One for the Brits
on: February 24, 2025, 11:17:35 PM
I’m not contemplating selling up
But I’ve just been made very aware of  how difficult it is now to post Bladed items here in the UK.

Royal Mail stance is a flat refusal as is a few other couriers.

It begs the question, even if you sold via classified section on MT’o… how on earth do you get it to the buyer??

My collection appears to have increased considerably in value…..especially the Wenger stuff.

It’s all going to my son, but I’m slightly concerned he’ll be stuck with it!!

Are we supposed to lie and say it’s a box of chocolates??
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

Private carrier like FedEx?  They've sure made life difficult with that.

Can’t you use one of the signed-for Royal Mail services?

I thought that was still an option, at least officially.

From what I read and understand it’s a flat refusal by Royal Mail.

I’m now a little concerned
Never crossed my mind back when I was buying.

Will DHL deliver bladed tools in the UK ?

I am pretty sure two of the UK SAK sellers I know of are still selling and shipping
Swiss tool.co.uk and heinnie Hines or whatever their name is!
Might be either checking what they do

We were checking out a way to get UK members be part of our EDC pass around, but now I'm wondering if it's ever gonna happen.
Will be following this thread if someone comes up with a good solution.

So,I ship to USA, a few times a year.
My shipping agent uses DHL,which passes through Heathrow.
Seems all the carriers on this USA/SA route stop there.
A few South African knifemakers have had items confiscated at Heathrow since those contravened UK law.
I've been fortunate thus far.
Some years ago,a friend who was an Amok! instructor arranged for Bill Bagwell to come to Durban SA. Bill shipped a few Bowies here, iirc using FedEx. UK customs seized his shipment, and iirc, wanted to destroy his Bowies. Fortunately he manged to get the package released and returned.
I'm concerned since UK knife laws were amended last September.
