As mentioned several times and by many good people here, the fish scaler lends itself to many ingenious tasks.
I tend to use it for lifting hot things. The teeth on the scaler makes it quite good for keeping a hot pot stable enough to not slide about, when removing it from the fire.

Today I discovered, that the little hook on the end of the scaler is great for pulling hot rice bags out of the pot as well. Who knew?

And the pointy bit at the end must have been designed for the sole purpose to ensure that the Swiss are never without a cheese fondue fork, right?
