Latest work with your SAK…
on: April 15, 2025, 08:16:09 PM
I found a little piece of wood the other day and thought that I could do a pair of scales for my Ranger grip 52 with it and I wondered if I could do it with my Ranger SAK.  So I did it! (With the help of a pencil and a small 600 grind sand paper).  What do you think? I’m quite happy with it, it’s not the best around… but it’s the first I made and I used my trusty Ranger for it.

Take a close look at the pics.  It’s clearly a Ranger 52, not a Wine Master.

Thanks for the answers!

I enjoyed using the ranger to make the scales.

I don’t know what kind of wood it is, I just found it when I was cleaning some old stuff.  But I liked the color.

And yes, as much as I would love to have the Wine Master this is not it, it’s a Ranger grip 52, but I use it for the same purpose, mainly to open some wine bottle now and then and to process the food that go with it.

I found that it goes pretty well as a main blade with a Vic Spirit as a companion.

Very nice job!  Maybe yellow pine, which would make a nice lightweight but tough wood if I’m correct.

At last, I can get back on MTO - for some reason I’ve not been able to get on since mid-April - neither iPhone, iPad or Mac let me on! Many thanks, guys, for the good wishes - sadly I’ve got at least another 3 months of reduced mobility such was the damage caused (severed patellal tendon and ankle broken in 2 places, just a simple fall LOL!). Right, time to do some catching up on the threads and find out what I’ve been missing!

Oh boy Rhizio - Sounds horrendous - Best wishes for getting better -
Not sure what the docs and physios are saying-  but the more mobile you can keep yourself the speedier the recovery - But don't listen to me I know noooothing !! :-)

However if less mobile - More time to spend on MTo    :tu:    :o    :D

Cheers, Huntsman! I need to get the swelling to go down as it’s interfering with the ankle setting, but the knee can now flex to 90° - the leg brace came off a few days ago so muscles and blood vessels need time to readjust…. Thankfully I can get on to MTO again for a daily fillip!
