Unconventional uses of your SAK pliers
on:
July 04, 2025, 03:39:24 PM
As I crumbled away the pelleted fish food, I got curious as of how many (besides me!) others use their pliers in a "weirdly"/unconventional way. Anyone else, or am I alone?!?

Pulling stubborn staples from papers.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

Not alone. The usefulness of the SAK pliers is limited only by the size of their jaws and one’s imagination.
Unlike most small MT pliers, they can take a very substantial amount of force, especially if applied in their strongest dimension.
The tips are so finely machined and fit that they can easily grasp a single human hair. So they are handy for personal grooming as well.
I also use them for changing automotive fuses. They are outstanding in that application.

I agree completely. I've used mine to clear jammed staples, loosen battery connections, lift heater grates, etc. They're very handy!

Great idea for a thread! Although I don't have any pictures, I've used my SAK pliers to pull stubborn slivers from fingers and toes. I actually find they work a little better than the scale tool tweezers!

I'll be copying the fuse-puller idea!

I just used mine to pull a broken plastic latch piece out of a keyboard key mechanism. The grip was just right, not sloipy and not too large to reach in the mechanism.

Ditto, though I was trying to be a bit more delicate earlier and simply say “personal grooming”.
