That's absolutely normal. I'm surprised your acquaintance doesn't realise that if it was straight it would bash into the awl and wouldn't close properly.  :D

Superb Swiss engineering!

All Pioneers, Farmers, Soldiers and SI's will look the same.

Yes the Pioneer solo is the only 93mm with a straight blade, as far as I know.

Not every Solo has a straight blade, some (most?) have the crinked blade.

Sadly, it seems the majority of the Solos out there now have the crinked, non-centered blade.  It really sucks too, because that blade looks so stupid in there.

Good question, Nick. Mine's straight.
You know that's how we roll

Really, I didn't know that.  I have only one solo and it's straight.  It did always strike me as surprising that they made this different blade for one fairly uncommon 93mm model.

There's a name for that construction method... let me see if I can find it.
Do you mean asymmetrical versus symmetrical?

Reviving old threads has been a thing as of late, and I figured this was a prime candidate. Lots of good info in here!

Reviving this thread with a couple questions. I thought it would be best to keep things together here. First question, do the 93mm tang stamps align fairly closely with the 91s?

Second, when did the opener layer on the Pioneer go from a brushed steel finish to polished?

Hopefully some of you know more about these things than I do.  :salute:

I have always assumed so for the side w the Victorinox stamp - ie Big V little V; SWISS MADE vs SWITZERLAND etc
Also assumed the same for the 58mms

Of course not the reverse side ie No OFFICIER SUISSE

But you know what they say about ASS - U - ME
