130mm collector - level 1
on: September 19, 2025, 05:19:06 PM
Another day, another badge? Might be - if the Wenger 120mm counts towards this badge!
I have three of them:
Wenger Ranger 06 - blade, saw, openers, philips
Wenger New Ranger 152 - serrated blade, corkscrew - single layer, beautiful black original non-grip scales
Victorinox RangerGrip 68 - blade, openers, corkscrew - large Spartan

I had in the past long relationship with the 130mm knife. Between 2010/11 (don´t remember exactly) and ~2017 my only SAK was Wenger Ranger 179 Patagonia Race. I was never too keen about the the serrated OHO blade but it was before my MTO time so I did not know that people are actually allowed to own more than one SAK at a time  :) so it served me well over the years till I lost it somewhere in the woods.

:like: 130mm models are conspicuously absent from my horde. I'll fix that in time.

130 wengers were once upon a time a obsession of mine.
These are old pictures, some…maybe all have been uploaded at one time or another.
There’s probably a dozen or so more 130’s that I never got round to photographing.

There’s also a few I’m missing that I had the chance to buy back then, but at the time become absolutely sick of spending money.

The last  production of yellow’s
Looking back this was the breaking point, by this time the FOMO addiction was well out of control, Wenger  had also released several variations of the “side clip”  which again then had me scrambling to find  too !! 😵‍💫

Then out of the blue
I was offered two of these 130’s 🤣

The elusive Wenger Ranger Rescue Knives 😳
These were the last I bought
I then quit not long after..

Upon reflection my problem was I went after them all, Wenger, Victorinox, Leatherman, Gerber, SOG, Shrade, BucKtool, Kershaw etc etc etc

Even back then as dim as I am, I knew I was witnessing history in the making…knew that these once incredible brands would become much sought after in years to come.
The LM Pruners were picked up for a song as were the OG TiNI SOGs, the BuckTools 360 & 355 were bought BNiB for a paltry £7 each (I bought the entire inventory they had left)
The Wenger Giant here on this forum for £325 was snapped up (by me) The original Juice SX… and so on and so on…

But it was so tough constantly trying to find/raise the money to buy all these.

Looking back now I’m glad I did it, but also know if I had my time again I wouldn’t have bothered. The constant and never ending searches… 🫣

Of all my 130’s
The AP Realtrees  (and Alinghi Rescue) are by far my most prized followed closely by the two stag handled Wenger 130’s
In total I have
5x AP Snows 130mm
5x  AP Blaze 130mm
3x AP Camo 130mm

Plus several AP RealTree 85mm including the somewhat scarce 505models with the unique  curved serrated blade

I hope you can all appreciate the hardship and absolute sheer frustration it took to amass these. The bulk came from Eastern Europe  back when communication between different languages wasn’t as simple as it is today. The stress levels were off the scale….. hence why I burnt out and quit

Today the entire  collection lives in the attic. 5yrs have passed since I stored them all away and still I can’t face to dig them out. Collecting can seriously take over your life.
