Klutch 16-in-1 Multifunction Tool
on: November 27, 2025, 04:03:59 AM
For those who are unfamiliar with me, I found MTo while researching electrician's multitools, which essentially are multitools that replace the typical combo plier head with a wirestripper head. I managed to acquire virtually all such multitools that had been made up to 2023.

My attention turned away from them during the past two years for various reasons. But I decided to do a little searching this week, and I found one that is new to me and locally available at Northern Tools:

I initially assumed that it would be much like a particular electrician's multitool that has been sold by multiple companies, including an earlier Klutch branded MT sold by Northern Tools:

But I was wrong:

After viewing those tools and looking more closely at the handles, I knew I had seen a very similiar MT:

The Hart MT is the 2nd worst MT I have every bought. The primary problem with that MT is that none of the tools lock in place and it has very little detent, which means the drivers try to fold up while using them. The Klutch 16-in-1 has the same lack of sufficient detent. However, it does feature a linerlock for both the knife blade and the saw:

The price I saw online was $27.99. However, the in-store price was $32.99  :twak:

I can't recommend the Klutch 16-in-1. There are a few electrician's MTs available that are better and/or cheaper. I would not have bought it if I wasn't a sucker for this variety of multitool

What has me curious is the saw's performance. I might not be the brightest bulb in the fixture, but I know a good drywall saw is a real asset to an electrician. If it can get through that wretched old lath and plaster, so much the better. (The saw on the eponymous SAK handled the latter, but took its lumps.)

If I pay five figures for something, it better have wings or a foundation!

It is not a good as a SAK saw or a Leatherman saw, both of which I have used to cut drywall. Also, the end of the saw is rounded, which means it isn't well-suited to begin a cut in drywall. Though SAK and Leatherman saws don't have sharp points like the typical jab saw, I have never had much trouble starting cuts with those saws.

I took one look at the handles and I just knew the level of quality on tap. I also have one plier based that I view as the absolute bottom of my collection in terms of quality.
A little Leatherman information.
