Looks like my city is #1 in something!

I thought this was a hard winter...well I was right.

I googled something...take a wild guess where I live.

What city in Ontario gets the most snow?

AI Overview
Sault Ste. Marie is frequently the snowiest city in Ontario, often recording over 500 cm of snowfall annually. Other top contenders include Timmins and Sudbury, which both receive significant snowfall in the 250 cm+ range, while towns in the "snowbelt" areas like Orillia and Coldwater often experience extreme, lake-effect-driven totals.

Sault Ste. Marie: As of March 2026, this city was tracking over 540 cm of snow for the season, solidifying its place among the top, if not the top, spot in the province.

Owen Sound: Receives approximately 330.4 cm of snow annually.

Timmins: A consistent top contender, with around 244–311 cm of snow each year.

Sudbury: Also averages roughly 250 cm of snow.

The snowbelt areas south of Georgian Bay, including places like Barrie and Collingwood, are heavily impacted by lake-effect snow.

:gimme: more snow. we are glutens for punishment.   :twak:  :D

540 cm = 212.598 inches = 17.7165 feet, and as I am typing this out it is snowing outside.  :tu:

No wonder I am taking up 3D printing again.

Now that is a lot of snow! I'm not sure if I should really congratulate though...

The most I've experienced was about 2.4 meters (8 feetish) average height of packed snow on the ground. (As opposed to accumulated daily snowfall). That was just ridiculous.  I remember jumping off a roof, after snow removal of course, and disappearing so deep into the snow when landing that others had to rescue me. (While shameless laughing at my unfortunate circumstance. Luckily I didn't dive in head first...)

My only solace is that we did not get it all at once. It gave locals enough time to clear it. All at once would be catastrophic.   :ahhh

It's my Dad's fault.  He didn't put the blower attachment on the back of his tractor this year.

Thankfully the bucket on the front was up to the task, but he quickly started to run out of places to put it!   :ahhh

Wow!  I like seeing snow but... that's too much snow for me.  I tip my hat to you folks up north that deal with that.   :hatsoff:
