Wiggly Wingman
on: April 18, 2026, 08:50:40 PM
I have a Wingman and one other L-Man built on the same sort of chassis.  A Bolster.  The Wingman pocket clip is loose and wiggles back and forth.  Annoying.  I tried tightening the screw on the other side of the pivot (blade side).  It took a little doing to loosen the screw first since evidently it has some sort of sealant.
It is possible to tighten the screw enough to stop the wiggly clip.  But it makes the blade hard to open.  There is less of a problem with the Bolster for some reason.  I figured the ideal solution would be either to remove the clip or put something like Lock-tite on the clip to freeze it in place.  Out of sealant.  I forgot about it for a while.  Carried the Wingman fairly regularly.
I had some Super Glue gel that I bought for something else.  I put a tiny drop with a toothpick where it wouldn't be visible on the clip.  It still has a tiny bit of flex, but the wiggle is cured.  For now, anyway.
It is funny how little nothing things like this are so irritating.  Best wishes.  G

Those little things are really annoying Imr, and how satisfying to resolve the issue!

I think the Lock-tite would be a better fix since it could seep under the clip a little.  Talking about a tiny drop here, not a half a tube of the stuff.  It's always the little stuff that drives you psycho.  Women's prisons are probably full of normal ladies whose husbands left the toilet seat up or wouldn't put the cap back on the toothpaste.  Finally.  Stab, stab, stab, stab, stab.
Best wishes.  G

Same thing happened with my Victorinox Cadet. I've used it for so long the tools were getting wobbly. No impact to function but it bothered me so much I cranked the pivots tight with a vice. A little stiffer opening but tight as a bank vault. Of course I use a LM now

I've used super glue as thread locker before.  Works real good on the smalls screws but I only use what will stick to the tip of a toothpick.
