I already have one of these so maybe someone here needs to add a nice looking old style red alox pioneer with the old style cross shield to their collection or pocket.

Oh, and I have never dealt with this seller.

Got the knie today, and it is gorgeous, even has brass liners (a first for me).  My only gripe is the can opener doesn't really SNAP closed like the other tools, but I rarely if ever use the can opener so I'm not too worried about it.  I will post some nicer pics of it this week sometime.

Great purchase! I love old red alox with brass liners the most.

Have you given it a good cleaning and oiling yet? I wouldn't give up on that ol' Vic snap just yet.   ;)

I have been using a new cleaning method which seems to be working very well for restoring snap to sluggish implements.

It's nothing fancy. I just soak the tool in lots of mineral oil and then work the stuck implements slowly and repeatedly.

Then I wash it in extremely hot tap water with "grease fighting" dish soap. I also work any stuck implements in the water while swishing the item around.

Finally, I just very lightly re-oil with mineral oil.

The initial soaking in mineral oil seems to loosen up a lot more stuff than I can clean with washing alone.

If the tool is really stuck, I will repeat the process a few times. There has only been one SAK I couldn't get back this way, and it turned out to be damaged.
