Craftsman and Master Craftsman
on: September 23, 2016, 04:31:51 PM
I just recently picked up a new Craftsman after years of lurking (and some great advice from SAK Guy :tu: :tu:) and have really taken a liking to it.  I also am a big Space buff and love the NASA connection with the MC.  I found these pics while looking to see what I could find about the NASA issue.  I looked and saw that the last Craftsman thread was some time back, so I'm putting this one out.  Post your Craftsman/Master Craftsman pics!! :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

Great finds Barry.

A. What do you think the astro in the top pic is doing with the scissors?

B. What the flip is going on in the bottom pic? No health and safety in space! Putting undue stress on the springs too.

Great thread Barry :dd:

I have yet to get one but I am looking

They have a great tool density but the price seems to be driven higher than the Ranger so it may be a while yet before I get my hands on one :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

This thread can give me inspiration to keep looking :like:

Thanks Poncho!  I'm really having a good time with this knife!  I lost out on a Shuttle version on the Bay, and found that there are 5 new Craftsman's left on the big A site.  The price wasn't bad, so I jumped while I could.  I'm carrying mine on a pouch on my belt, but it could just as easily be pocket carried.  The only issue I'm having is a neglected and jealous Swisschamp at the moment.... :D

I am kinda cheesed off with myself for selling my Master Craftsman... the shop that had them in London suddenly didn't have them anymore when I went back to buy another one.
I do like my Craftsman, however. It's possibly my favourite SAK. The only part of it I never use is the saw.

Yeah, pretty much awl of them have one.

I was lucky enough to get mine from a seller who had it listed all goofy like "Rostfrei Officer Knife" or something.

Here's the auctuon. Not too bad a price. I still have the Leatherman case if anyone wants it....free. first to say "I'm awl in for the leatherman case" gets it.

Only thing is this one doesn't have the latest metal file and doesn't have plus scales.

One of my favorite 91mm SAK'S.
Jeep the SAK of the auto world or is it SAK the Jeep of the Knife world?

My first SAK was a Handyman, given to me by my Mom as a going away present. Used it well I did. And it lived up to its name doing various repairs at home. The only thing missing was a phillips screw driver.

So I searched around and learned that what I wanted was available in the form of the Craftsman. Wanted it so badly. But unfortunately it is rare in this part of the world. Finally after a long time a dealer had one unit available. Made the deal in an instant.

Waited a few days for it to arrive. Was surprised to see that when it finally arrived, it came with an old presentation box. Upon closer inspection, it didn't have the hook, had old style scissors and pliers. And also had the can key.

Was looking forward to EDCing it. But then decided otherwise as I already have the swisschamp and CT34.

I don't know what to think of that can key. It kind of ruins the philips.
And those tins that needed a key (you don't see them much nowadays) always came with one.

I think that's what put me off the Master Craftsman I had. Strange looking philips! But I am sure it works fine in practice.

Oh it does work fine in practice... There are still some cans that needs a can key. At least in this part of the world. And sometimes the can key itself is missing. That's where it comes in handy...

I just looked on the Bay and there's probably a half dozen Space Shuttle models up for sale, averaging around $70 US.  I'd jump but I'm lucky I'm not sleeping in my camper after this last purchase as it is!!   :D

Why not offer the Campervan in part exchange for the Space Shuttle Barry? You're welcome.

Right on Mags!  To be honest, it would take up a lot less space, no maintenance or fuel, and would pretty much top off my list of wants!!  :like:
