Some 58mm mod tips

I had fun with some 58mm used saks!! I made old patina white ash and used copper electrical wire as rivets.I think it turned out great for a beginner.


I thought it would be nice to give some tips from my small experience with the small 58mm.
I found that the original brass bushing is a good base for a nice round rivet heads...plus, it help for a beginner in peening to have that ''extra'' mm from the bushing to prevent hit the scales much.



Another tip is reinforcing the scales by reusing the bushing to make a vintage looking SAK or maybe replace the broken scale of an old apparent rivet 58mm






Excess of the copper electric wire sanded down to the bushing.

BTW, you have to be really careful when peening on wood scales because it can easily make a crack also depending on which wood you choose. I choose white ash because it is what I got on hand first but also because it is a light and hard wood used for tools handle such as ax.
