Hello Dan, glad you're paying attention and quite understand you've no wish to be pedantic. I think the right thing for an Ambassador to do here is play the polite diplomatic card.
In one sense you might be right but I believe that a respectable argument can be made that if one considers both sides to the knife one may call an Ambassador "two layer". I am not of course suggesting you're wrong or asking whether you agree but you'll respect my diplomatic immunity over this I trust?

Can't go wrong with El Compact! :tu:
My Two Layer Tuesday carry, it's like a Compact but with no hook, keyring, or combo tool. I made this specifically to carry with the Spirit, so I would have a regular blade, good scissors, the pen blade, and scale tools, all the things the Spirit lacks, even though the Spirit is a good stand-alone. What I didn't expect is that it would be a good carry on it's own. While I like having the opener layer of the Climber on me for the most part, it seems like I end up using the 91mm pen blade and scissors daily more than anything else, so this ends up being a good super-minimal carry for me. :salute:More pics! :like:

The Sportsman is a great knife. I wish Vic put the nailfile/cleaner tool in place of the small blade on more of their offerings. And yeah, that small screwdriver comes in handy! An opener is the one thing I miss on the Executive, which is why I rarely carry mine. Dandy indeed ! It's the corkscrew, or more particularly the small screwdriver, that I've come to value and that's what I miss. Not enough to dislike the 74mm Executive but enough to draw me to the 84mm Sportsman.

Compact & Classic
This is an older classic which I bought used but it still glows quite brightly... Especially after sunlight. It glows in my dark office... My newer SG climber glows even brighter.
Another reason I like the sg scales is the fun/non-threatening appearance.. Perfect for the office.
Jealous of your trip to London! I spent a week there about 15 yrs ago and loved it. So much to see and do. Do you go often?

Sorted left side victorinox, right side Wenger.
Did someone say ..2 layers? That NIB Viking is awesome! :like: :like: Nice to have a 108mm GAK too! :tu: Very nice assortment of 2 layers.

The Phillips has been a great addition to my keychain; I keep it on a split ring and am able to use the ring to put a decent bit of torque in the driver. If you needed even more torque you could put some kind of bar or rod through the keyring and use it like a t-handle.Thanks guys, its not too shabby if you happen to have a spare backside Phillips in your pocket :D
Yup, while maybe the most practical, it will get the job done on a pinch for sure... :tu:
At least it compensates for that crap combo tool and not having a reliable tool to turn screws... If they had only put the regular cap lifter there instead of the combo, the compact would be almost perfect :D

The other day I was in great need of a Phillips and this method saved the day. I found this thing and put it through the keyring, giving me the torque i needed on a stubborn screw. I don't know what it is but it helped :D
I wanted to like the combo so much, but it just doesn't make up for the lack of the opener layer. I still like the Compact, but think it will see less pocket time when my 84mm Tinker arrives.

I did and love the scales.
Being a veteran, I like to support Veteran charities. And having a brother in a wheel chair (cerebral palsy), adaptive sports are also close to me heart. I actually participated in this weekend challenge a few years back for children and families. They had extra wheelchairs so family members could participate to give perspective. Great time, but my upper body hurt after.

My proffering for today is the Alox Cadet (and its official Vic' slip)
I do wish they'd make slips for the Pioneer/PX & Farmer/FX (when it's available) :pok: ::)
But they do! I have one for a 3 layer 93mm alox. I don´t have an item code but I do have a picture.:like: I have searched high & low for such a thing
Do you recall where (and when) you got it :ahhh
At my local Vic dealer, many years ago.Bugger
Check out Collector Knives’s pocket slips and belt clip slipsThanks G-Dizzle :salute:
Thanks G-Dizzle :salute:This is the medium sized pocket slip from them (no clip at all). I find it is perfect for 2 layer 93mm models, with 3 being a bit snug (it’s leather though, so it will form and break in).
I did have a look earlier (I saw your previous post) but I didn't see anything that was made just for Vic' and only a slip.
I like belt clips but only for larger tools (LM, SwissTool etc) and only whilst on duty.
Carrying a large blade/tool conspicuously here in the UK will get you into a world of grief and it's difficult to hide something that doesn't fit easily into the coin pocket of your jeans ::)
I'll have another look later :tu:
A comparison photo with the medium pocket only slip and the official Vic Cadet slipThanks for the info' and pics G-Dizzle :tu: I might have to look into these again then
The shop´s still there, IDK whether it´s open now due to the virus. Here's hoping it will :tu: At least you have a physical shop you can go to
Thanks for the info' and pics G-Dizzle :tu: I might have to look into these again then :tu: This one came with a limited edition all-silver and no keychain cadet. I feel for your struggles as a collector in the UK. Is buying this kind of stuff on Ebay still a thing over there?
Incidentally, the only official slips I can find from Vic' are the black ones and not like the one you have here for the Cadet :dunno:
Maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places but I have to search on-line as, here in the UK, we don't really have shops that sell only knives (of any type) or even shops that "also" sell knives and accessories ::)
That looks nice G-D :like: :tu::iagree: :like:
It’s quite difficult to buy knives on eBay ???
Good one hotrod  :like:

I was dedicated Swiss Champ carrier until I got a Compact! :tu:
Happy 2 layer Tuesday!
Nice one Smiller :like: :tu:Thanks.
Victorinox TimeKeeper, notice an addition I made in the second pic (upper left corner). Added tweezers so it has all the functionality of the compact. One of my favorite two layer models.:tu:
Is an Exec 74 1 layer with stacked tools, or 2 layers?
:o
Oh boy, we've been having this discussion in another thread. To me, it's a 2-layer because there are dividers between the tools.
Yes, but it’s like the designer wanted to create ambiguity by making the middle divider present at each end, but not in between!
:dunno:
For what it’s worth, I side with 2 layers for the same reason.
After having my first one for all of a day, I find it the most, maybe the only confounding Swiss Army knife EVER!
Really a strange tool. I open it up and cannot think of a reason to have, and keep it. Can’t for the life of me figure out why I impulsively ordered it on sale for $25, when I could have picked it up on EBay used for $15. ???
And yet I cannot stop filing and cleaning my nails and imaging filing a cap lifter into one of the tools, and liking how much longer the long blade is the blade on my 58 classic, and wondering WHY they put a small blade on it, instead of something. ANYTHING else!?
It’s like the koan of Swiss Army knives. It is cryptic. It says I will not explain why I exist. You must formulate the questions and the answers why?
It is the cutlery equivalent of THE GLASS BEAD GAME in Magister Ludi.
One can not even be sure there are any questions it answers, except for those you may invent yourself.

I have always liked and hated puzzles. I believe I have purchased a puzzle...that looks like a SAK.
Well, I love mine. And I think you love yours. And I think I know its appeal...
It's the snob factor. Like 28 gauge shotguns....nobody needs a 28 gauge shotgun, when a 20 or a .410 would be better for some reason or another. It's because you can, and it's neat, and it's nifty, and it's suave and genteel and prestigious and gloatworthy. It's elegant and debonaire. And besides, orange peeler! :woohoo:
I think you may be exactly right. I have always fancied .28 gauge without ever thinking about .28 gauge either.
Thx.
So: I think I shall get out my old dinner jacket, standby the fireplace, light a cigarette, withdraw my Executive, push back a cuticle and say, “The name is Bond. James Bond.”
My two layer 84 mm golfer variant mod. Pure coincidence or luck that the front scale has my initials. Looked on Sakwiki, but did not not find a variation produced by Victorinox. Find this odd since it really makes a great two layer that just disappears in your pocket.I've been looking for that knife :pok:

Went with Red TimeKeeper for TLT. Opened up the back scale to accommodate the small tweezers. Also this model has the nail file so you could call it a Compact Plus.Very nice!

Beautiful SAK, too! :tu:
I suspect the braided type would make it easier to get their claws into  so you'd just end up with a broken & fluffy cable :dunno:Scratching isn't the issue...chewing is.

Recruit! :salute:
I wonder if a lot of people overlook this model because of the Cadet. I prefer the control that the extra width provides in hand.

Makes a great sak for whittling, imo.
Evogrip 11
:like:I've grown to like the 85mm locking blade. I didn't at first but gradually I found I love fiddling with the lock! Plus for certain situations where you really don't want it to fold up on you it's great.
I only have an S16. I kind of like the SAK itself, though i prefer Vic's scissors by far. The only thing i hate (other than the evo scales) is the damn blade lock, in the way, uncomfortable, catches up to stuff in my pocket....
What where they thinking....?
:like:
I ended up removing the key ring, I found it got in the way using the small blade. I also removed the belly from the small blade and made the edge straight. Basically how Chris Lubkemann modifies his SAKs in his whittling book.
Plus for certain situations where you really don't want it to fold up on you it's great.
You mean those situations where you're doing something wrong? :DWell that, yeah. :D But there are some reasonably legit situations such as working with the blade tip inside a hole or indented area or perhaps a tube. It's rather easy to hit the spine of the blade against one side of the hole, causing the blade to fold up.

The locking blade it a two edge sword... It's kind of cool in a way, but not that bloody lock. But in another way, it's not cool at all because in my country is an instant "no carry", as locking blades are forbidden regardless of blade size, unless it's for a specific, justifiable and verifiable purpose or activity.I felt exactly the same way (except for the legal situation, seems to be ok in most US states) for about a year after I got an S101. The lever seemed awkward and the lock seemed more nuisance than help. Somehow when I picked up an S18 it all started to change. You get seduced and end up coming over to the dark side! Bwahahahahahaha >:D
And i'm so used to slip joints that it feels strange not just closing the blade shut.
In 40+ years of SAK carry, I've never felt the need for a locking blade, and the lock does annoyingly hang up on my pocket or pocket slip. Also, I seem to never opt for a Delemont Evolution for carry because I can choose a Victorinox that is a tool layer slimmer, e.g. a 5-layer Ranger is as slim as a 4-layer S17/18, and a Huntsman is about 3mm slimmer. I always choose a Tourist over an S101.Yes the Evolution scales are thicker but that works to your advantage on two and perhaps three layer knives. More of a handle to them but still light and slim. I have a tourist and it's fine. My palms are fairly big and the tourist feels small and thin in hand. An Evo 10 or other 85mm 2 layer feels more substantial in hand to me.

My Winter Magic L.E was picked up yesterday so it seemed only right that it be carried for T.L.T.
Mrs Surge has declared it is now open season all things Pumpkin and therefore, it would be rude not to...
Nice one Surge!
