Field Watch Fiend – (Timelord request Level 3)

I really have a thing for field/tool watches. 

And I also like the practicality of solar.
It’s just a shame there are so few small watches, for my twiggy little 6 inch wrists.

I used to have a nice and small Seiko SNX427. Though, in a fit of needing to pay the bills, I sold it. 

I’d maybe like to try another automatic watch one day so if anybody knows of any small ones, I’m all ears.

P.S. I’ve just realised this isn’t all my watches as there’s another one at the watchmakers, at the moment, being repaired! 
And it also doesn’t count the one I sold yesterday either.

Timex have a great option - bought one years ago but the movement was harvested for a project. Good compact size (36mm) and won't break the bank.

The Mk1 is a lovely watch. Though I never realised it was a mechanical…

Take a look at the Seiko 5s. Got a 36mm (or maybe 37mm  ) Automatic from that line. Love it

Nice group! I've been eying a watch similar to that Citizen every time I get a watch battery replaced at my jeweler.

Field watches are easy to read, and high contrast. I hate Roman numerals, missing numbers (dots in places other than 3,6,9,12), and silver on gold faces. The bold, big black on white or white on black numbers of most field watches make them great for what I do. Luminous dials are great, but Indiglo is even better.

I had a Timex Expedition, but somehow, the crystal got a huge divot in it, which I'm not sure what caused it, but the chip is out of the inside. I always suspected diesel fuel when refilling the tractor melted whatever the crystal was made from.  Recentlly picked up a used Bertucci DX3; as it was their cheapest model they offered direct ($35, Timex money). The resin case and light weight was why I chose it as a work watch. They make a replica of the Timex USGI watch from Vietnam, but $140?!!! Even if it has a US-made movement.

I like a right at 40mm case. Big enough to read, not big enough to get in the way. Might try a 36mm, however.

Funnily enough, I’ve been eyeing up a certain Seiko SNKN33.
However, the lack of lume on the numerals leave me a little cold. Though, I guess I could always swap the dial for the ‘lumetastic’ SNX809, for my idea of perfection.

That’s why I got into solar because I liked not having to keep changing batteries. Though my favourite watch out of my collection is the quartz…

You really can’t go wrong with a price like that. It’s closer to $90, this side of the pond…

That's a nice collection.

You could always add a Tudor Black Bay 36. Possibly also the Hamilton khaki 1960s has been reissued.

Before anyone starts crying that the Tudor is too expensive, have a look on chrono24.

I like the Tudor Black Bay. Though not “two grand” like it. 

I also really like Hamilton’s watches. Especially the really small 34mm watch (Ref: H693190). Though it’s another one where they’ve skimped on the lume, just like the 1960’s reissue. 

Though, back to reality… I’m currently unemployed resting, and without any income, so it’s all wishful thinking. 

By the way, have you seen the new 36mm Rolex Explorer too (Ref: 124270)… Nice!

Yeah I have seen the explorer, I may for once prices have settled down some more.

I’d go for the 50th anniversary Snoopy speedmaster first as the prices are coming down.
