That's why I bought it. I wanted an output similar to an incandescent, but incandescent lights are harder to deal with; due to lack of battery life, and the fact bulbs with regular use, need to be changed regularly.  It's brighter, the battery lasts longer; there are no bulbs to change every couple of weeks, and it doesn't get hot after extended periods as much.

Cool, thanks for the response.   :hatsoff:

I used this Streamlight Protac90 while browsing a dimly lit antique mall. Some of the overhead lights were off making it difficult to view the merchandise.

A couple of favorites on me today.

Malkoff MDC w/VME and M61NL drop-in.  4000K Luminous SST-20 95 CRI
Peak LED Solutions Eiger. 4000K Nichia 219B 95+ CRI R9080

The Peak is a fantastic little task light that can be easily clipped to the brim/bill of a cap for use as a headlamp.  15 lumens for 4-5 hours on a Eneloop AAA.
The Malkoff is great for the more infrequent tasks requiring more output. 200 lumens for 2.5 hours on a 1000mAh 14500.
Both are made in the USA and will survive just about anything you can throw at them.

Nice pair!

The Peak Eiger is now on my list. The Maglite Solitaire doesn't have enough power for a go-to light, and my problem with Olight is that they are made in China. At $50, the Eiger isn't as expensive as I thought it would be.

Just curious, how come on the Olight thing, I thought you had quite a few?

I'm a long time fan of Peak, having owned their products for about 20 years, but I'm not much a fan of their use of QTC to offer variable output.  My opinion is that the decision to use QTC in their lights took them from one of the most reliable, indestructible lights ever made to one of lesser reliability.  So, I order mine as a single output light without QTC rather than variable output with QTC.  This can still be done, but since they're not advertised this way any more, you have to know what to ask for, and special order them.  If you're interested in that, I can send you a document Peak published years ago about the single-level options.

With that said, a high CRI light like this is what you're looking for if you're trying to get the visual accuracy that your incandescent solitaire provides.

I don't Carry Flashlight, but if I carry a flashlight, I must choose Fenix UC35 For its look and Brightness.

Got something new in my pocket here. I’ll be trying out the Lumintop Frog this weekend. The default 10180 battery only lasted 3 days so I’m hoping the 10440 would last longer.

That's a cool light!  I really like how those can eat multiple cells.  It would be a really good one to store in a vehicle with lithium 123s and/or AAs.

I like having a headlamp in vehicles also, and the reversible clip with a ball cap will take care of that need as well.

 :iagree:

I have become a huge fan of those light clips that can attach to a cap.  A headlamp or even angle light is another good option.

I was using the smaller HS10 and kinda drained the battery in just a couple of sessions. I now plan to try and use the HS40 - first with a small 18350 battery and if it’s not enough, go full size to 18650.  I’ve found the headlamps quite convenient especially when I need better illumination and need 2 hands to work on something.

My only gripe on the HS40 is the tint leaning towards green.

Old favorite 4/7s ATOM A0 Titanium.  I got it specifically for the red led.  I put the red lanyard so I can remember its a red led.

Carrying this Manner E02 with Nichia led.  Its a great light that really needed to be carried more.  I had it in a pack but changed it for something else.

Streamlight Microstream USB.  What I like about this one, and its larger brother the 2xAAA, is the simple user interface and the stiff clicky that rarely activates accidentally.  On this USB flavor, the light body slides apart to reveal a micro USB charging port.  I have found the Microstream series to be highly reliable.

For a light that is around 15 years old, this Fenix L0D Q4 is still a perfectly acceptable keyring light.

Very nice :tu:

I have been carrying the Seeker 2 for work the last few days. It's a bit larger than the ones I've previously carried, but what a torch!

Looked up the specs on the Seeker 2.  That's a lot of lumens in a handy size.  :tu:

Cheers Gareth :hatsoff:

I failed to mention that this is the pro edition, so it has a bit more (3200 lm). I rarely use the highest setting though, because it gets burning hot :ahhh

They sure picked the right name for that light!

I don't hesitate to carry a light with me ever.  Just the other day as I was getting ready to leave I added a second light to my work carry.  Sure enough I ended up using it to better see in an area that is shaded.  I always have my Auroa key chain light but the light I added was my Zebralight.  Sorry no pics.

As the time will be changing soon I am rarely without 2 lights.

I've been carrying the excellent Rovyvon Aurora A28 recently. It has a nice, stiff clip so its pretty secure in the pocket.  I attached an O-right for easy grabbing.  It has 4 levels of output, plus 2x floody LEDs on the side of the light, and a UV light.

These Rovyvon lights have a proprietary replaceable battery pack that includes the circuit board?

Built-in LiPo battery is rated at 330 mAh and yes I'm assuming its connected to the circuit board. The 3rd Generation Auroras converted over to USB-C charging which has me very tempted to get the newer generation.

edit, theres also a magnetic tail on the G3 which is another plus for me.

Here is an example of the replacement unit for the A29: https://www.batteryjunction.com/rovyvon-ra20-replacement-batt-a23.html

I'm very much against proprietary parts like this in any equipment I use.  I'll except in in disposable items to a degree, but not something I plan to use for many years.

It's a compromise, by moving away from standard batteries it enables different designs and form factors. This isn't to everyone's tastes, but does serve a purpose.

:tu:.  I don't imagine battery life expectancy to be terribly short ( whatever that means ).  I fully understand what you're saying tho.  Rough look at equivalent batteries, they are rated at 500 charge cycles.  Once they get to 80% tho they are said to be at their end lifespan.  Considering heavy usage of charging 2-3 times a week which for me is not anywhere near my usage its hard to know exactly how long it'll last.  My guess is 3-5 years to get the battery to 80%  :dunno:.  Again just a total random guess.

Again I fully understand what you're saying and tend to agree but this light is pretty great.  When it dies maybe I can replace battery/PCB?

Appreciate your thoughts and comments.
