Excellent mod, could you post the step by step picture of the scissor transplant? :tu:

I didn´t take any picuters of the actual transplant, im afraid. I will have to take the skeletool apart again when the T-shank holder arrives though. If that is early enough to you (i expect shipment in a few days) i could take some pictures of the scissor mounting, too.

Next will be the t-shank holder... sadly the lasercutting company is awfully slow :-(

At least you've found a company who'll do small orders of cutting.  I need that  :-\
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

hey shorty66, could you go into detail what you had to do to the bit holder layer to make the scissors fit? A drawing or pix would be great.  Sounds like a good mod to do to the new freestyle.

The bitholder layer is completely uncompromised by the scissors.
The scissors just replace the bit storage compartment. Its quite easy:
Open up the screw on that side, lift the storage compartment material over the remaining screw axle and turn it to the side.
Then cut it near the end so that just a little bit is left to assure the layer remains at its initial width.
The scissors fit perfectly over the screw axle. You just have to reduce their width a bit to make sure you are able to close them.
Than just slide the upper layer back over the screw and screw it all tight.

I will post some pictures when i am taking the tool apart again.
Sadly the lasercutting company seems to have lost interest in making money with me. Perhaps i will have to make the part by hand...

thanks. I just could not quite tell from the pix.  this would be good on a freestyle, then all i would need was a multibit screwdriver.

If you didnt purchase your freestyle yet i`d rather buy a skeletool and cut of the biner like i did. Adding the bitholder to the freestyle will be a lot more complicated than adding scissors...

Oh, man. The lasercutting company just contacted me and informed me, that they gave me a wrong pricing for the parts.
The new pricing suggests 25€ for the t-shank holder if i order ten of them, getting a lot cheaper if i`d order more.
One single holder would cost the same as all ten holders together...

I decided to do the protytpe by hand. If enough people are interested in getting a holder i would let them start the production, though.

This is the issue I've had with getting stuff cut :(    Always too expensive.

Time to get your files out :)

I was thinking of carrying a screwdriver separately with a modded freestyle.  When you cut-off the biner and spring clip what tool did you use?  I was hoping a dremel would do but just curious.

i did use a dremel. It certainly does the job quite well :-)

Carrying a seperate screwdriver would be a solution, too but i like integrated stuff... thats the reason why we like multitools isn`t it?

I was just kicking around the idea. The more I think about it I might just cutoff the biner and leave the bit storage and order the replacement bit kit from leatherman and just carry one bit in the storage slot. That kit has bits with both flat and phillips on the same bit.

i recommend having one bit card with your favorite bits in your wallet. That makes your tool so much more flexible...

I didnt have any time to do the mod yet....

That's what I did and works great for me.

That sucks man... I know the feeling! :( Doesn't matter, I don't have a spare to tinker with anyway, and I'm not willing to use my CX.

I finally managed to proceed with my project.
The middle layer of the t-shank holder is finished now.
I think, i might be able to complete the bottom and top layers tomorrow. Assembling the whole thing should not take to much time which means my mod should definitly get finished the next week.
