Dennis what is the quality of the Chinese-Lite
It's not nearly as well made as the gerber version. You can just call it Chinese . They forgot to   put a lite in this :D

Guys, what about the price difference of an original multi vs the knock off?

Nice photos, guys.  I don't know why but I'm always fascinated by knock-offs.     Whenever I see one, I have to stop and look at it.

There are 'Eddie Bauer' labeled genuine SAK's aren't there
I wonder if Zack's model could be used for parts to make cool modded SAK's  .
Zack the plastic bit holder looks very similar too a CT. How similar are the various parts when compared to a CT's

They are similar, but not the same when you look up close.  i was thinking the same thing when I bought...tearing it down and using the parts, but the bit holder is really cheap, the scissors dull, the pliers are ok, but the knurling isn't aggressive enough to really turn any screws.

I like the compass idea (even though CT series would be my last choice for the compass scales), but the rest of the tools look like crap. I wonder if those bits would turn even one screw...

It's funny, a few weeks ago I was talking to a friend that just got back from China. He had gone over there with a few other people on his team, to try and sell an industrial part to one of their manufacturers. He said that they had to take one extra person, whose sole job was to hold the prototype, and never let it out of his sight.

It seems that in the past when they had gone over there, if a prototype was left in a room for a few minutes, that within a couple of weeks an exact copy was available on the international market...

The CT-knock off compass scales... do they fit on a Victorinox? ugly or not the LED/compass scales option is appealing.

In other trivia the Miss Army scales fit on the 91mm. i got 3 for $1 to bulk out an ebay shipment from the states. Mirror, led light, hollow compartment and pen/tweezer slots. Make a 3 layer sak to bulky to carry but if your the sort to leave a disposable one in the car or pouch you might find this info handy

I got 2 rather interesting Knock-offs for Christmas. I saw this MT on US Ebay & got it for $10us 8) 8), it is a made in Taiwan True Value branded tool. It seems to be a little like the made in Japan SOG ToolClip  :D :D

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll287/multimat426/Xmas%202009/c01f5a06.jpg[/img]]
I guess it does NOT have a pocket clip  :D :D :D :D
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll287/multimat426/Xmas%202009/e37e0cc9-1.jpg[/img]]
The knock off seems to be based on an early version of the SOG ToolClip going by the small secondary blade tool , latter SOG like the one pictured replaced the small bladed tool with the cap lifter/screw driver tool. I actually found the small blade tool really good for opening clam shell packaging.
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll287/multimat426/Xmas%202009/a35bbb72.jpg[/img]]
Taiwan VS Japan, the cheaper knock off is not of the same quality , the fixed part of the plier head wobbles in its pins/rivets , tools are a lot looser in the tool & the tool came with a bit of a nick in the blade edge that filed out very easily which might suggest cheap steel was used . But for $10 I like it  :D & interesting to see such blatant copying of ideas , but like most knock offs does not really compete with the original.

That's an interesting one Mat.

But, the real question has to be "how do you manage to screw up the photobucket links so badly"?  :D
