Obviously, that's the smart thing to do when you are feeling like crap and have a big headache

So I mistook the pad of my middle finger for a nail and hammered it against the wood. I have hit myself with hammers many times during my illustrious DIY-Not career but I have never managed to split a pad so bits of tissue were popping out. Here it is cleaned up a bit.....

Hammers I believe are fitted with a finger homing device,if there's a stray finger laying around you can be sure the HAMMER! will find it

so for protection I use Tesa tape it's sealed well until I need to get in there

That did look nasty. So far, I haven't hammered a finger...yet.

Mind you, I was brilliant one day, I was in a hurry to leave my house and my momentum overshot the hand trying to hit the door knob of my storm door. Needless to say, I looked rather fetching with my arm through the glass pane bleeding everywhere I could for good measure. I needed a few stitches that time, and I was mortified at my own stupidity when I had to explain what happened to the Doctor at Emerg.

I don't know why you did that you don't like it. I must say you did a good job smashing it. One time was nailing down some tack strip on some hard concrete and i missed the nail and hit my finger with the hammer and at the same time i drove a tack strip pin up trough the bottom of my finger. I can't tell you how much that hurt.

Presently all but one of my hand injuries are nature inflicted (eczema). The one is a bit special though, nice little slice into my thumb above the nail caused by a high velocity shard of hard drive platter.

Even my wounds are geeky
