Shard Arrived Today

I pre orderd two Shards a few months ago with a Feb 2010 ship date to my surprize i got them in the mail today.

I put in an order their for good measure. Now to wait and see.

So is it stainless steel? If so you should sand that ugly goop off it. I think it would look better shiny.

As it's kinda shard related I thought I'd post this here

I got my artifact today from Nikos

mate,as soon as the postman dropped it off I got to work removing the black coating my guess is it would come of in use very easily I think it's just paint

anyway I accelerated the process and here's what it looks like,I kinda like it shiny still aways to go tho I ran out of med and fine grit paper

and after a little elbow grease

this picture shows the shine better

Now ready for service and onto my key ring

Thanks Ben it would have been easier if I had some Mr muscle oven cleaner but I ran out of that also using it on Hard anodizing but it works great for removing coatings just remember to remove any nylon/plastic washers tho

Just place it in a suitable container and spay liberally and leave for about 20 mins,done

for stubborn spots dry off and repeat

Thanks Allan it still needs a little more work but I prefer it like this I'm not keen on poor coatings that easily come off,if I wanted I could replicate Gerbers coating method and dip it back in a can of matt black paint
