Charging Iphone 3GS

Will my older Griffen ipod wall charger M#17B061001 charge my new iphone 3gs safely?

Thx in advance, I had limited luck finding this answer on google & apple site.

My guess is yes - (but I'd seek some confirmation from elsewhere before trying). My 3GS came with a mains charging lead without transformer, which means it's taking 240v straight, which in turn suggests that it can handle it, but as I say, I'd want to be sure.

I'd probably call an apple store or something before trying it if you can't find answer here.  Or maybe try one of the iphone forums out there.

I read some accesories wont charge it because apple got rid of firewire on 3gs and some accessories use those connections - need to do more googling

Being the owner of 8 or 9 iPods and an iPhone 3G it's been my experience that if the connector fits in the device it will charge just fine. I have all the cables from these and third party companies including home and car and everything is interchangeable. Oh wait, did I take my medication today?

I know my wife has a griffin FM tuner/charger that charged her 1st gen ipod touch, but her 2nd gen won't charge.  I think it has more to do with the software update than anything else.
