Atwood LockNut Monster

Add another tool to my upcoming review list (aside from the Jürgen Schanz tool), I got my hands on a new LockNut Monster from Peter, this thing is not only hefty but looks like it can take some serious abuse. [EDIT] I found time to take some pics....

Hmmmm, that's the first Atwood-type tool that's ever looked tempting to me.

How well does that alligator wrench REALLY work?

I don't have a problem with any of Peter's wrench designs, they work just like those on the Pocket Wrench II but they are for more specific sizes rather than a whole spectrum of SAE and Metric. I have not used the bottle opener yet, sorry. Going this weekend to Atlanta to see my brother and to hang out with someone from here. I am sure my opener will get tested at least once this weekend.

One thing I already notice is the angle Peter has added to the tool makes it to you get more leverage when turning a nut when when the tool is straight. I am not use to his raw bar finish, almost looks hammered instead of polishing. I know Whippy, folks said the last batch sold out in less than 2 hours.

I got one last week when first offered, I concur it's probably the best design yet for a wrench.

Are the wrenches actually any good? I can't see you getting much leverage

The wrenches work good, just as good as the Pocket Wrench II if not better, only thing holding it back is limited sizes and it doesn't cover metric. It covers about 75% of what I encounter on a daily basis.

I finally got a LockNut Monster. When I first saw the tool I wasn't sold and thought it was kind of ugly but the more I saw it the more it grew on me, I just had to have one!

The "Raw Bar" finish is so much nicer than the pictures show, it's a perfect choice for this tool.

I don't like the look of the new bottle opener but we'll see how it works when I get a chance to test it out. The pry/screwdriver end is really beefy and I think it will be very useful. The wrench end looks like it will work great but again I haven't had a chance to test it out. All in all I'm really glad I picked this tool up, a very unusual look yet a very functional tool. I would have liked to see some jimping on the top near the eye hole for better grip but other than that I have no complaints.

I'll test it out in the next few days and let you guys know what I think. I know you're just dying for my opinion!

Looking forward to your thoughts on the LNM after yoiu`ve tested it out. I like the look of the raw bar finish on the LNM.

I have been carrying it since I have gotten it. Hasn't seen much action yet, guess I am have been in a lull or something where I am not fixing alot of stuff. Give it time, I like the tool very much if it's any consolation.
