More Jobsite observations .
on: August 08, 2010, 04:19:24 PM
Been diverted off Schools , and shipped to a large dairy warehouse ( under construction ) . Just a few tool observations .

On this job most of the HVAC , and low voltage control systems techs. schlep Leatherman Waves . The electricians , Plumbers , and other mechanical trades don't seem to use them . I would guess that is due to the fact that 16 , 18 , and 22 ga. wire doesn't tax Multi's too much, whereas whereas 10 and 12 ga is a bit much for a steady diet .

So far the only tools I've seen have been Waves , can't fault the choice . I've packed my new Wave for the last few days . Great for removing metal splinters !

As far as power tools , Milwaukee is in the majority , with someDeWalt , haven't seen any Off Brands like Royobi or Ridgid . For large drilling jobs , Hilti still rules the waves .

good thread.....

most of my experience is with single family dwellings. aside from hitachi air nailers all framers are using mikita circular saws. i'm not sure why but it is to the man (crew).

i have seen one electrician crew using royobi. very poor quality IMO. i borrowed one (18 volt drill) from the lead man for about 5 minutes.... POS.

Electricery scars more than a little, I still remember making my teaching circuit board at trade school(I did my apprenticeship in motor mechanics) smoke  ::) ::) ::) :D :D :D.

Non insulated pliers, like most MTs have, is a big negative when working on electrical wiring
