108mm nylon goodness

I have been taken by these Victorinox 108mm nylon scaled beauties. This is my collection...so far. I may need my screen name changed to 108mmSAKfan!

They are quite nice knives, and lightweight too. How does the blade thickness compare to say Alox blades like on the Farmer?

Just scored that one from Swiss Bianco's ebay listing. Had to pay $5 more than when they were offered with the newsletter, but it was totally worth it for me.

Blade thickness appears to be identical to my Farmers.

The clip point one is really nice!

I don't know, for me these 108mm nylon scales look pretty ugly

But I have to admitt, I have never seen one in real life. Maybe they are much nicer if you have them in your hand

But don't mind, it's your collection, and if you like them, then all is OK

My 4 new 108mm knives arrived yesterday and I just love them! They came in the same green pouches as the ones in your pic, though I thought those weren't original.

Turnstone. They tend to have a blade snap that is terrifying. They are not lookers, that is certain, but their size and handle shape makes them seem like the right sized knife for some reason. You should try to get at least one to see what you’re missing...or not missing.

One thing I noticed with the 108mm knives is the position of the main blade's nail nick. It's not ideal: the combo tool is in the way making it pretty hard to open the blade. There should have been a nail nick on the opposite side of the blade IMO

Did you notice the odd shape of the saw/bottle opener/screw driver combo cool? I didn't know why it was shaped that way until I looked at the knife closed up. They shaped it so you could reach the nail catch of the regular blade past the saw. Take a look at it.

I will see if I can have a look at one of them at my local dealer. They have quite a lot of SAKs, but I am not sure if they have 108mm models. And they are strange there... last time I wanted to go there I was quite late and they locked the door just in front of me. The other day no one was there to unlock the display where the knifes where in. I have the impression that this shop is just for fun and no one there has to live from what they sell. I prefer to buy online, it's cheaper, too. If they were friendly and I was sure not to come back for something that is available in the display...

Red aint realy my colour when it comes to knifes (dont kill me please) but I love the look of the german army version.

They don't make alox scales big enough for the 108mm blade.

The Solo and Solo Plus are in the left side of the picture. You can see that the Hunter, Pathfinder and Red Trooper (at the right) are a bit brighter.

It may not be a huge surprise to find out, but I think there's going to be more than a couple of folks here that do find that interesting.

My only 108mm is a plain old Solo. Nice size though.

i enjoy the 108mm line too. not too big to be obtrusive, not to small, and very good construction. I started serious SAK collecting after the point they were discontinued but i guess if I was a bit older, I would have much more of them than i do now.

I like the light weight of the 108mm line, and it's relatively low bulk factor. I like the 111mm Hunter for similar reasons, but the 108mm fits easier in a pocket in pants or many packs. A lanyard on it works very well, and is much nicer that those attached to the keyring.

I did notice this. It is interesting. It is odd that they 111mm nylon is not the same color as the last 108mm's produced, but actually closer in color to the old 108mm.

I really need to take some good "action" shots of my 108mm pathfinder (EDC). We can always use more 108mm pron.

Yes I'm a big fan of the 108mm. Like everyone has mentioned they have a ferocious snap and that saw is very sharp. They are relatively lightweight and I keep a Solo as my everyday-around the house-knife. One of my favourite knives in my collection is the Safari Hunter with the imitation stag antler scales - its just such an odd looking knife you can't help but love it.

Bump Bump, nine year old thread but 108 not dead !
I confirm there were two very different shades of red, as illustrated below. With all the tang stamps variations, that makes for a lot of versions to look for and collect, and that, folks, is what it's all about ! (Wenger Grilon is here for shade comparison)
