Hi,

My red Skeletool from REI arrived today.  The red powder coating looks very nice.  As to durabilty, I'll look forward to what others report as mine will be a collection queen.  Please share your experiences.

By the way, the Leatherman SKU # for this tool is 950816

Best - Joe

Lucky you.

Do you have to be a member to buy from them? It tells me I have to make an account with them...just to buy one red Skeletool? Seems like a lot of work. I may have to call them to see if they are willing to ship me one without having to make so much paperwork.

Now THAT is incredible!  I really like the red and imagine it would hold up as well as anything else.  If you plan to pocket carry it, expect scuffing of the finish, eh?   I actually wish they offered a variety of colors like the Juice line

If the blade lock is painted I bet that will be the first place the paint comes off. ON LM's BO MT's the lock's ramp gets shiny fairly quickly.

Nice shot Bob  8)
Be interested to see how the wear progresses  .

What are your thoughts so far Bob on the quality of the painted finish? Better than Gerber's painted MT's I hope  :D

I noticed that with my Skeletool CX, and my BO Surge.  No big deal there ;)

Bet it will be a different color. Might even be a Mother of Pearl color.

If I was to guess a Black & Gold color for the standard Leatherman theme.  :D
Could even be a limited edition run, Team Leatherman!

I just got my red Skeletool monday.  I've been EDCing it the last couple of days.  So far, only 2 tiny nicks.

FYI:  I've kept it on my right front pocket which also carry Whitmans sampler tin(carries money/change), and an LM Style CS.  Plus the Red Skeletool is fully in the pocket(Not being carried by clip/carabiner).  So it would be banged around a bit!

Except forthose 2 nicks, it holding up pretty good,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,SO FAR!! :tu:
