Bear Bird Tool?   I guess it depends on the type of hunting.

This is the Remmington rebrand..

I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I carry a tti in the woods but the gut hook is kind of small. I only use it for back up or maybe quick repairs i may need to make ect... It does not replace my hunting tools though. When deer hunting I use a leatherman steen or my outdore edge trophy pack.

Is it a sissor on it and a hook for guting birds. I mostly hunt deers and moose.

I mostly use knife instead of hooks. But it is becouse i am  more use to that. No i use mainly 3 knives. But for repairs and small jobs in the camp or so i like it. Hm do you have a pic on the steen.

Super Tool 300.

(Image removed from quote.)

That looks nice. I like that it is a plain edge on the knife and that it is a special tool for the serrated edge. How is the screwdrivers.

Bob, aka J-Sews will probably have some great insight into this as he is an avid deer hunter and hardcore tool collector.  I'll send him a message to make certain he sees this thread!  :D

That ST300 looks like my Core without the replacement cutters.

I would have to say for cutting duty get a Buck 110.  :tu:

Has anyone ever field stripped a deer with a multi-tool blade?

There's a mod at Knifeforums.com who field dressed a deer with a Vic Classic.  He mentioned it wasn't ideal for the task, but handled it well enough in a pinch.

My biggest concern about using a multi is contamination.  The pivots can hold all manner of nasties and deposit them in fresh, warm meat, while the biological matter can get lodged in the nooks and crannies and cause all kinds of problems later.  I'm not an active hunter, so maybe I'm not the best guy to ask, but I'd think a nice, simple fixed blade would be the most effective tool for dressing a deer- or really, any large animal.  I think I'd carry a multitool for camp chores and maintaining equipment, but if I'm going out specifically to hunt, I'd probably carry a good skinning knife.

Yes i agree. You have to clean it real good after if you use it for field dressing and such.

Iwill post a picture of the steen for you. It will take me a few to upload ect... They run a little over 100.00 but they are nice. They have alum. handles with rosewood inserts and a swing blade-guthook made of s30v. That is both the blade and the gut hook. It also has a folding bone saw that covers the blade. Comes with a nice leather sheath that seem to be good quality and a diamond rod to sharpen it.

When I hunt , I only carry a knife to gut the animal. I have a butcher kit I use for the rest of the job at home.  The gut hook on the steen is large but works well. Doesnt snag. It will also be great for larger game. You can also use the bone saw to cut small branches for a shooting lane. I use my outdoor edge kit for clearing branches because I bow hunt from a tree stand mostly.

My father-in-law taught me to gut a deer by splitting the hip bone, so I could see that saw being of use.  Overall, that's the first swing blade knife I've had any respect for.  I'd seen the Klamath before, but the Steen seems to be a much nicer tool.  That hook likes you could split rhino hide with it...
Half-ass done wholeheartedly!

  I think you could gut just about anything with it. There are alot of other knifes I really like and have as well. I have a cold steel master hunter I also carry and it is one of my favorites in carbon v steel. I have others but they dont see much use these days.

What ever happened to "Multitasker" MTs? http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,17028.msg322567.html#msg322567

they were made for guns/riffles like the AR and M16. I always thought they were a good idea. And Leathermans "MUT"
was nice too  ;)

For non specific MTs I think I'd go with a Victorinox Spirit for size,
range of tools and superb corrosion fighting abilities!

We do not cut bone anymore.  One-Apparently it increases the chance of C.W.D. contaminating the meat (we hunt outside of the C.D.W. zone but it doesn't hurt to be careful)  Two-(again) Apparently it can adversely affect the taste of the meat near where the bone was cut.

Though not a MT.  I recently got this baby from TOPS.
And it should make a good skinner, and a possibly a survival knife.

I don't know if the O.P. uses a rifle or bow, but I read that the cap crimper on the Charge Tti and ALX were designed to turn bows and set nocks.  The bits are also great for removing and adjusting scopes on rifles and tightening hex screws on quivers.
