I do think we need more data though and I can't believe that there aren't more members with Blast's.  So come on you lot Bob need more numbers to crunch. :pok:

 :D

Anything more than three numbers and its ME who's being crunched! :P

Okay here's another stab at compiling the data (please double check me you number sleuths) :)

Leatherman Blast...........introduced 2004

Cap crimper models..............became available in 2005

PAT PEND stamping removed........between June '05 and Aug '06

Molded ledges added to plastic handle liners.............between June '05 and Aug '06

File blade changed around Aug of 2006, but old files remained in the system until at least May of 2009*

Locking levers updated...........between Jan '09 and Apr '09

Nail nick moved to inboard side of knife blade................between May '09 and July '09

*a theory I made up to fit the data

I've PM'd the OP about the Blast I picked up yesterday. It's still sealed in its crackly plastic because I may return it.  (I thought it was a steal of a price, but it turned out to be average if not a little steep)  I have an inboard nick, and the handle codes are 1110 & 1210.  I have ledges, but I'm not sure about the handle lock levers.  (And since it's sealed I cannot comment on the file)

The Pat Pend numbers must be on the side that's pressed against the card.  Oh - and no cap crimpers.

Late find, here is one more variant of the Blast.
One of the very first ones, a preproduction Blast.

- Laser lettering
- no date code
- different knife and file design
- a little different design of the locking mechanism

I tried to compare it with a date code 0510 Blast
Maybe someone has more information about it.
