Atwood Croconut, not just a pretty face
on: March 05, 2011, 10:13:42 PM
Today, the postmaster had a package from Peter for me. A first run Croconut.

The Croconut is the latest Atwood tool.  SAE alligator open ended wrench on one end, various SAE sized hexes in the handle.

(Shamelessly copied from Peter's site):
Croconut with G5 prybaby

Since today is a farm day, the Funnybone came off and and Croconut went on the keychain. :)

 :-\

 :(

Well, I couldn't help myself.  I had to find something to test it out on.  >:D

The first thing to present itself was a slightly loose and askew exhaust pipe on the tractor.  Out came the Croconut to remove and refit the exhaust clamp.  Anyone who's worked on exhausts before knows they can be complete fiends to unbolt due to heat, corrosion and crude.  In this case, the Croconut worked perfectly.

Walking around, I realized I had never replaced the worn out wheel on one of the wheel barrows. The bearing had rusted out and let the wheel wobble around.  I had the new wheel, but unbolting the bracket is always a rusted up mess, so...

But today, I decided to got at with...The Croconut 8)

Again, it made quick work of it.  The fact that it has a significant arm on it helps tremendously.  In fact, it would be very easy to put a cheater bar on it for added leverage.

So, after removing and replacing a bunch rusty nuts, what was the damage to the tool?

None. :D

In short, this a serious hardworking tool, well worth consideration for those who want to wade into the Atwood pool.

Nice pics mate, the Croconut looks great!

How does the handle cope with the corroded, tough nuts?  Is there any flex there?

Its a very fair point Ryan but I really can't see Mr Atwood being particularly offended considering the context; far from it :)

That does look like a very sensible pocket tool Nate.  Impressed to see the lack of damage, thanks for taking such good shots :tu:
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

No flex whatsoever.

I'm really pleased with :)

If Peter has any objection, I will respectfully remove it :salute:
