Hey Everyone,

I know Victorinox update their plier heads through the years, but I'm curious...which plier head year model do you prefer?  I have a 2002 pleir head design and I like it because its strong for torquing counter-clock wise and it doesn't look bulky like the 2005 model.

PS I gave this swisstool to my father-in-law as a gist for his b-day.

98.      after that the newer they get the farther apart the handles are and I don't like that. :multi:

the '98 plier head model looks weaker than the 2002 because the arm near the pivot point is slimmer (usually pliers will break around this area when they do break).  I don't know if I would trade narrower grip to sacrifice for strength though IMHO  :)

It might look weaker but how many broken Swisstool heads have you seen?    Or even heard of?

I suppose technically the older ones were weaker, but I wonder how many were actually broken? ::)

I too like the 2002 pleir head.  It can be found on the spirit and swisstool prior to the update in 2005.

Amici,
for strength I'd have to lean towards the Swisstool, but the award for aerodynamics has to go to the spirit.

Cheers,

just playing devil's advocate here but; if there was no weakness issue, why would they keep making the head fatter?

I totally agree though, we almost never see or hear of issues with the Swisstool, but perhaps Vic did?
