I was thinking of enlisting a USA member to bid on it for me but I've decided to get a standard silver one instead, so I thought I'd let you guys know. Sorry if someone here's already on it and I've just blown your cover :twak:

Usually if you ask nicely some of the US sellers may even post outside the US but this one makes it really clear that you do not have this option.

Reading his listing I get the impression that if you dare to get a US member to buy it for you and the seller finds out you would be in REAL trouble..  :D
I do not know if you were even supposed to look at the listing...  >:D

Sounds pretty harsh.  If someone were to ask a US buyer to ship it international how would the ebay seller even find out?

He will not find out.
I was just being slightly sarcastic.  :D

Seems like some lucky soul got a real nice deal on that Stag SOS. ;)

Okay, so it was an "okay" deal on a Stag SOS Champion, but I've always wanted a Stag Champion and they don't come up as often as Swisschamps it seems... Plus, I had just received a refund of the deposit for the apartment we rented in Scotland for two weeks and had money to burn. :p

Scotland was awesome. Perfet time of the year to go (all the fields were still bright green, but the trees were all changing colors). The wedding was perfect.

I did pick up a SAK while there -- a Skipper. Picked it up in the coastal fishing village of Mallaig. Brought the DofE I was gifted and it saw lots of use including as a photographic scale for some geology pic I took. I'm a geologist and Scotland is the birthplace of modern geology so when I got to go see where James Hutton worked on formulating so many of his paradigm shifting theories I just had to get some pics. :)

So kind of a busman's holiday then ;)

Its surprising the number of times I've come across SAKs used for scale in pictures of everything from space probe components to paleontology digs :)
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

Busman's holiday. Had to Google that. Yep, that's what I turned one of the days in Edinburgh and several hours here and there into. Came home with some great rocks, too!

Funny thing about a SAK as a scale. 20 years ago when I took my first field course in geology we were instructed to always use a Swiss Army knife as a scale in our field photos. Sure there are actual scales and rulers you can use, but everyone immediately knows roughly how big a SAK is and can immediately gain the necessary perspective.

Did I mention I got some cool rocks?  :D My wife was not amused that I had to repack everything to avoid getting his with the excessive weight baggage fee coming back. The 4 litres of Scotch didn't help, either.

:D  I brought a big rock back from my honeymoon but at least I didn't have to catch a plain home.  I'll have to use it as a prop for some SAK shots :D
