LED Lenser "key-chain" flashlight
on: November 24, 2011, 09:45:47 AM
hey, I'm looking at getting an LED Lenser to replace my damaged maglite solitaire

just wondering what are peoples feelings of the K3 vs the P3 I can't make my mind up

K3, smaller, lighter
P3, takes a single AAA battery which I carry spares of most days already

any other pro or cons to each model I need something hardwaring  ???

cheers

I've never had any Led Lenser, but can recommend a Fenix E01 as it's a superb keychain light :tu:
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

Between the 2, the P3. Much more convenient battery type.

As an alternative to the LED Lensers, you may want to take a look at:

Fenix E01
Nitecore T0

and for something with a lot more power, ITP A3.
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

If you want a 5mm led, go with the Fenix E01, much better and cheaper than those two you listed. The itp a3 is a much brighter 3 mode light, and in the price range of the two you listed. It's been discontinued a month or two ago but there are a lot of them out there. There is also a newer model of the itp a3 out, olight i3 with a sturdy pocketclip. You can't go wrong with any of the 3.

I'm curious, is the Maratac AAA also going to be using the upgraded i3 driver settings, or if it's going to stay at the old a3 levels, that may be a workaround for the a3 being discontinued.  I've not checked it out, though.

There were four different itp a3, I have/had the last 3. There was the original one mode one, the xp-e q5 with mid-low-high, the xp-e q5 (I think, I lost that one so I can't check) with low-mid-high and the last SS one with an xp-g r5 and a low-mid-high sequence. The i3 continued to use the last version of the itp SS and Maratac uses the second one. Most vendors never changed the text during these changes so I was very pleasantly surprised when I got my last SS one.

Hmm, I didn't know that. :)  I wonder if the Maratac AAA will be upgraded to this latest model, unless Olight has that many leftover drivers of the second version (to be fair, I think I'd have preferred the third version better, with it starting out on low...).
