Victory Oak Classic
on: December 16, 2011, 02:06:39 AM
Back in August of 2010, Dunc and Thundernoodle offered a nice Victorinox Classic clad in HMS Victory oak in aid for David Bowen. It was a grand idea, and I wanted to win it, but was outbid by another forum member. You can read about it here...

Roll to around a month ago. Dunc PMed me with an offer to buy his precious copy of the HMS Victory Oak Classic. I jumped on it for several reasons.

I had recalled seeing a few related items from the original auction, and bought something similar after purchasing the Classic. Those items just came in today. Time for some photography.

I purchased a limited edition book that explains the history behind the Victory Oak Company, along with a nice paper weight that features a nice block of the wood along with a piece of the copper cladding. The book also came with a bookmark featuring a small piece of the wood. I just wanted some interesting and fun related items. The book is interesting. It focuses on the company's venture and pitfalls along the way.  The paper weight is just darn cool. the knife is  worthy.

That is quite cool!

I really like the look and the history!
If the trees blew down the wind and no one was around, would the alphabet song really go backwards?

VERY NICE! I don't even like Classics, but I have a few exceptions like this one.

That is neat! Question about the wood-where was it taken from Victory? Is it a case of timbers being replaced during maintenance and being sold?
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D
