Yeah, the multi-mode module requires a few more millimeters. The original ITP A3, the single mode one was shorter than the 3 mode later ones too.

I'm not too thrilled about the step down feature though. :-\

My latest flashlight is the BLF special edition SA-22, here next to the 47s Quark AA^2 Tactical. I'll do a write up soon I hope.

I did like the look of that SA-22.  How would one go about getting the BLF version?

http://www.cnqualitygoods.com/goods.php?id=1980

Ric is still having problems with shipping on his shop page so best contact him directly via email. He's very good to deal with and ships fast and with tracking. I got mine in a little over two weeks. PM me if you can't find the address.

As dks already did an excellent write up on it HERE, I won't have a lot more to say about it but I'll ad some pics to help you decide. >:D

The slachlight comes in a simple but good box with some information on it, but the specs are for the original one, not the BLF version of it, this one's UI is LowLow, Low, Mid and High with memory function (I know you like that ;) ) and no flashy modes. :tu:

The LowLow is great for extended run time, by means of eyeballing it, i'd say in the 3 lumens range, maybe lower. The high is blinding. :ahhh

Great mode spacing with (0.2%, 2%, 25%, 100% of the full output and I don't notice the PWM at all.

The provided sheath is of opened end design and good quality, can be carried on the belt or on a carabiner on the D ring.

It's a smooth reflector but provides enough of spill if you should need it. XM-L2 T6 NW emitter.

I read on BLF some people complained about the clicky switch operation but mine functions flawlessly. You can change modes either by a soft tap of the switch or fast turning the flashlight off and on again completely. It will remember the last mode it was left in if turned off for longer than a few seconds. It's a reverse clicky.

Here it is compared to a better known 2xAA flashlight, the 47s AA^2 Tactical. As far as output goes , it blows it right out of the water, but we'll see how the durability will be with extended use. As you can see, the 47s has seen some use and is still kicking strong.

It has reverse polarity protection if you should put the batteries the wrong side in, and grooves so you can put the head on it only correctly, no chance of error.

The head is aluminium, but the body is plastic, don't see this as a problem and it helps with weight too.

Comes with simple accessories, a spare O-ring (don't remember ever needing one till now) and lanyard.

I tested it last night and love it so far, great flashlight for $23, worth it in my opinion. :hatsoff: I can't provide any decent beam pictures as my camera plays smart and adapts to the stronger light so you can't see any changes. :-\ If I find a way around it, I'll update.

Decided yet. :pok:

I also got some 10180 batteries and claw clips for my Veleno Designs Quantum D2 from him.

Even marked Veleno Designs. The one I got with the flashlight was generic packaging (blue one)

When they arrived, I popped one in the charger and it charged fine. Put one in the D2 and nothing. Tried another one, still nothing. But they charged fine. :-\

And then it hit me.

Wrapping. :D The Quantum D2 needs the whole bottom to be free and these had protective wrapping on the bottom. ;)

Quick trim with a Classic blade and everything works flawlessly. :hatsoff:

Got a 5-pack of small claw clips.

Attached to the keychain with the new clips. Never liked the triangle one that came with the flashlight. This one fits like a glove

Laser, UV light and LED torch... $1.50 from Tinydeal with 3 batteries in it that cost more than 1.50   :D   :D

Possibly the most fun light I have!!

The laser is impressive (looong reach) and the LED bright. The UV works fine on money.

Buy one!

My 2 E05 SS are here.

First impressions are good. The light is solid, the threads are very smooth - quite easy to operate with one hand.

Unlike the plain E05, this version has 3 modes. The UI is low, medium, high (8,25,85 lumens). Mode change is achieved by rapidly turning the light off/on. High mode lasts for 3 minutes before stepping down to medium.

Also on this version, the lens is clear and there is no hole (see second picture. Note, both pics are off the net and are not mine).

I got these for keychain carry, to potentially replace the ITP A3 SS currently carried. Not sure whether I will yet. Like Gareth, I would much prefer the UI to be M-L-H.

I was wondering, does this light use a spring for the negative contact, or one of those propeller looking washer things like the preon revo?

My first love, before hoarding guns, knives and MTs, was flashlights.  My latest light acquisition is the Fenix E05 (2014 edition).  I bought both the stainless and aluminum flavors.  These suckers are great.  They crank 85 lumens for an hour, or 8 lumens for 14 hours.  On high, it will reach out a good distance for finding the cat in the backyard or whatever.  I have carried lights for years, but this is the first time I have carried only an AAA light, because this is the first time that one will crank enough lumens (IMO) to be really useful as a general purpose light.  The stainless looks sweet, but I prefer the aluminum for its super light weight in the pocket.  Though I like to carry lots of toys, all I really need is this light AAA light and a small SAK or MT.

Still have a soft spot for my Mini-Maglite. :dd:  Best add-on has to be a tail switch IMO.

Got a tail switch coming in. I gotta say this mini mag-lite is bright as smurf. Package says 274 lumens. I would say that is about right.
Mag-lite has really stepped up there game big time. There Mag-tac line is great and what there doing with the mini mags is awesome! And the best part is, they don't cost an arm and a leg.

So you´re saying they are again worth to have a look at them?

I only have a old Solitaire and a old mini - and compared to even the cheapest China flashlight they only look as bright as tealight-candles.
Have fun.

Bye,
Michael

Oh hell yes there worth a look. They are still built like tanks and now there LED. The Mag-tac I had was 320 Lumens and shot a beam for forever. Mag lite may not have all the fancy 22 different setting on them, but for a good basic light/torch, they are worth the money.
A mini mag that is throwing 274 lumens for $25 over the counter with tax added, that pretty damn good in my book.

Thanks.

I will have a look for them - and check their prices. I hope they don´t have the usual "several times the price in US"-markup.
Have fun.

Had a quick search - what i found was starting around 40-50€, so it starts here at 53-66$.

I assume that could be called a serious mark up for the same stuff.
Have fun.

Just received a ThruNite Tis single mode 60 lumen...the colour is described as red but its pink, I'm not really bothered about the colour seeing as it was only £5.95 :tu:

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

I like the idea of a single mode back up light...the price is great as well, we usually get ripped off on prices for tools in the UK

Normally, I don't buy flashlights very often because I been happy with my Photon II Pro on my keychain and a Fenix E01 for work.  Then I made a mistake and looked at this thread  This is what I talked myself into needing. I very sweet Fenix E05SS.
