I just got my Urban Pioneer from Syph. I can't post a picture right now. But I have to say it's perfect - he improved on the Victorinox quality. The tools have fantastic snap and I think he even sharpened the blade. I'll definitely want others.

Some of the tools are different from the others. ;)

Did you recheck if the new Delemont parts/hole positions/liners are compatible with the old Wengers?

Ya the new liners look.. weird.

Here are all the Wenger parts now waiting for me to try to figure out how to get them back together.

I did take pics of the SAKs when I originally took them apart to help me remember what bits started where.

I too prefer the old Wenger liners...but seems the scales on the Vic Delemont liners will be less likely to crack given the extra support.

Working on the wengers today... all pins are 2.5mm which is fine.. BUT the problem is the bushings they use are not the same size as any of the Vic ones!

Normally I would just use the salvaged ones from the original pins BUT, these pins only have bushings on one side, the other side were formed from the pin material itself.  I thought it was 2 separate pieces but nope the bushings do not come off! So IM having to make some bushing by spinning thick brass washers on my belt grinder.  It works, but slow process as its a trial and error fit up process.

There is for sure never enough time!

As my son gets older I should have more time. My wife is a nurse and works shift work, so if she happens to work weekends, then I dont get to get much done.

One thing that is obvious now that should have been sooner, is to group similar mods together as its faster to do 2 of the same one at the same time, then all of one, then all of the next.

Wengers are all done, and I finished a 4 layer 93mm Ti model too, just waiting for the camera to charge then picture time.  :D

Here's the Ti 93mm.  Its got a vicious little serrated blade on there.  I believe the fellow that ordered this is a rock climber and wanted something for cutting ropes.

Any reason you went with the corkscrew rather than the clubface groove cleaner as the backtool?

It felt a bit 'uncomfortable' trying to work in the garage yesterday even with my tiny heater going which usually makes it barable.  Well! The news man this morning said we had the coldest day ever measured here in the last 80 years of tracking.  -34.1 C (-30 F)  That is cold.  I havent felt cold like that since I lived farther north.  Hello global warming where are you !?!

So... Im looking for a better heater today.  I did have a gas line run in the summer thinking that would be the route to go, but they are about 1200 for a gas heater.  The cheap part of me just wants to tough it out for another couple months.. we'll see.  :D

Just get a forge and all will be well.

The Wengers look fantastic...exactly what I was hoping for, if not even better than imagined...thanks Syph.  These will be my EDC...with your BO Spartans as my backups.

Any reason you went with the corkscrew rather than the clubface groove cleaner as the backtool?

I never use the club cleaner and prefer having the corkscrew to open wines when needed.  Just a personal preference.  Also, this was the SAK I had envisioned for a custom run with Wenger before the Delemont factory was converted to Vic...with the exception of the BO.

Hello, here is just a pic of the cerakote SAK you sent me a while ago that hasn't left my pocket since...

My question is : even if I like the worn cerakote, would It be possible to hard anodise the scales ? Let's say, in red ?

Cool that does look nice actually.

I think cerakote would need to be blasted off with abrassives.  It would be easier to just pop on a fresh set of scales if you want a new color I think.  Im out of every color at the moment as Im waiting for a big resupply, but I'll have black and red again for next month.

Today's job was a straight forward one.  The customer just wanted a new blade, awl and brass liner installed on this well traveled soldier.  He had asked Vic north america and they wouldnt fix it under warranty, but they sent him a free pioneer instead.  That's not too nice of treatment I think.  For repairs to alox I guess the SAKs need to be sent to the mother land.

Love your new Alox's Syph but something like this really calls to me. Brass liners on a worn SAK is something special to look at.

Ya totally.  The guy I fixed it for said he carried it for many years and it had sentimental value, so he just wanted it to keep on going.  Brass is my favorite liner material, always looks good with any scales or colors.   :tu:
