Bob, I love that you post here and interact with everybody so much.  It's part of what makes your knives so amazing.  We get to watch the decision process, the trial and error, the mastery of skill.  And at the end, we get to see it all come together into something gorgeous and functional.  It makes us feel like conspirators in the creation of something great.  Like DaVinci asking the people at the local tavern for input on the Mona Lisa.  That bit of personal investment we feel (at least I feel) at being part of the process makes the end result much more personal.  Thank you for sharing your process with us.

Very nicely put 67.
I could not agree more.
I am amazed our good buddy is so open with his trials and errors -
Not that there is anything to hide - But sharing failures (or let's say unsuccessful attempts  ;) ) and speSmurfpillst knowledge - as well as successes is a very rare and commendable characteristic.

And of course seeing things evolve makes them that much more special for us the observers, or even co-conspirators  ;)  - as you put it  :)  ........ And also helps us learn stuff too - if we ever get into any of these activities.

The other thing that I love is the constant changes of direction and new creations - Not much over a year ago all we were just looking at in this thread were various scissor and layer additions to a 93mm alox knife -  Now look where we are !     -   :o  wooo hooo  8)

Thanks Syph - We are so priviliged to have you in our forum !!  :tu:  :salute:
And thanks for sharing!!

The finish on those scales is amazing, particularly with the inlaid copper cross.  Lovely!

Its funny but when I was originally asking around for quotes on having scales machined like this I got comments like wow that texture will eat up 9 minutes of machine time for each part.... it will be pricey.

Now that I have a CNC machine Im like... its ONLY 9 minutes per side! Nice! :D

I need to get off my duff and finish switching scales to my new Syph ones (think blue OC).  I switched one side but need to get a little creative to change the other (the screws on one side keep wanting to unscrew the opposite side; I have a plan).  It is indeed fine Syph work and it is a beautiful set!

Took most of last week off and finally back to business today.  Some interesting ones are coming up now... one with a Pi symbol engraved as a pattern, a new set of dual tone finish 93mm scales (edges and border tumble finished, interior anodized and textured) and the camper scales with ferro rod insert that I finally have all the parts to make work.  :D
