Mrs. TJ does the bulk of the gardening. I mow the lawn, lug around and open up bags of mulch and rocks for her and pull weeds when instructed to.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

LOL

Right...

Kinda unfortunate choice of words...

Though my old man is rather a SAK himself... 79 yrs and kickin hard.

Morning trainings. Healthy living. Handles a lot of chores with only what's in pockets...

Though he never carried pocket knife... He's more old school. Dedicated tool for every job...

I picked up my knife and MT enthusiasm from geandpa...

I´m not that big of a gardener, so i stay with what i can - keeping the lawn short and the bushes around green.

Thanks, it´s a nice place to live - and to chill on a sunny evening.

I never tried to grow my own food. But to be honest already keeping the above halfway clean and tidy takes all my free time. I can´t even imagine to do all the work it takes to have a nice vegetables and fruits growing garden.

Have fun.

Bye,
Michael

Some very tidy gardens there, Lichtbote and edcgear. :tu:  I'm not going to take a picture of mine. ;)

I've written off the first sowing of french beans - dug up the stunted seedlings and re-sown a fresh batch.  Hopefully it's not too late in the year and we'll get a late crop for the freezer.  The sweetcorn has definitely decided not to play either, which is a shame.  Got my tomato plants in the raised beds, three courgette plants next to the beans, what looks like a bumper crop of strawberries on the way, and the potatoes and broad beans are coming on nicely.  My little wildflower meadow is coming into full flower too.  And I mowed the lawn, trimmed the hedges, re-potted some shrubs and banked up the potatoes over the weekend. :tu:

Sow the sweetcorn again with a dibber. Make the hole, pour in a little bit of chilli powder, add the corn, a little more chilli powder then sprinkle a little seed compost in. Fill the rest of the hole by just watering liberally. The chilli powder stops vermin eating them (if that's what happened before). There's still time for the beans and corn :tu:

Good tip. :tu:  None of the seeds germinated, so I guess it might have been mice.  The patch is next to the shed, and I have had mice living under there before.  I'll get some going in seed trays in the conservatory and see if they'll grow.  Be good to get something in the ground, even if I don't get any corn back.

Not wise to start them in seed pots mate, they really hate root disturbance/being transplanted. Better to sow direct, and start something else off in pots in case they fail again

Very tidy yard Lichtbote  :tu:

When I lived in a larger home with a large yard I was pooped by weeks end.  A garden that produced edibles sounds amazing.  I love the idea but with concrete patios and nearly no direct sun on either I'll have to live thru you gents.

How's this year's harvest coming on?  Big changes in my garden over the last year - bigger lawn and less room for veg, but still growing stuff.  Got broad beans and carrots coming up, and potatoes and dwarf french beans planted but no signs of growth yet.  Strawberries overwintered well and have started to perk up nicely - plenty of flowers already.  Still need to buy some tomato seedlings, and plant sweetcorn, runner bean seedlings, lettuce and sweet peas.

A few potted veggies on our back patio, week four, with three tomato plants, a squash, zucchini, sweet pepper, cucumber, and jalapeño.

Some tiny tomatoes(bonnie original variety), mild jalapeños, and sweet bell peppers are starting to show now.  Nothing yet with the squash, zucchini, or cucumber plants, although something has taken a liking to eating the leaves on those.  Ma applied a canola oil/water mixture that's supposed to keep insects at bay, will have to see how that works out...

Heres my second year gardening. Many of the herbs, and both peppers made it through our latest mild winter.

Succulents

Basil
Jalapeno peppers

Aphid infested Poblano peppers :(

Rosemary

Mexican Oregano and Chives

Not pictured is a very vigorous Aloe plant, and two Begonia plants.

Nice pots, Stormdrane and sLaughterMed. :tu:  I'm not organised enough for lots of containers - I keep forgetting to water them.  I have a couple of large beds and a row of raised beds that do a much better job of keeping the moisture in.
