My new Wave and me
on: February 16, 2008, 09:09:34 PM
I picked up a Wave yesterday after logging 20 hours of straight overtime. Come Monday i'm gonna put it to work and let u guys know how it holds up . Think im going to order the clip so i can carry it in my front pocket so it's handy. I was eyeballing the Surge but after using my bosses Wave i decided on it.

I actually like the wave better than the surge. I find the surge can just be too big at times to carry and the wave just seems too perfect to me. I am sure you will be happy!

Congrats!  The Wave is a great tool.  I have two of them!!   I don't carry them, I EDC a Charge TTi, but I use them in  the car and truck for backups.

It does seem to be a well built tool and just the right size for my hands. I'm 6'5'' with size 13 fingers.

With your size 13 fingers the Wave is just like a Squirt.

I've got size 12 hands, but for some reason I prefer the wave....maybe it has to do with my job not being a tool driver job :P Most I use is a box cutter at work. Tools may ride with me but I have to go out of my way to give them some use. My wave saw some action today taking apart some old ciggarete displays durring the remodel were doing. Box says he needed a screwdriver and I had one out before he could go find one, always love to do that :D Suge is on my "list" just like the Crunch is on my list too. I think due to the light nature of my job I see a Skeletool in my future, just don't know how distant though.

Seems like in a tool of this size the scissors could have been a bit bigger. I like the ability of opening the blades with one hand but when you take out the scissors you are getting the sharp end rather close to your digits.  Took me forever to find the lanyard ring. Guess i should have read the instructions first. Whoops!

Now that you have the Wave. Spend a few extra sheckles, at the Leatherman tool site, and get the pocket clip!!!! :multi: ;)

Pacu, you should have went with the Surge. I have gigantic hands and the SURGE is ment for them! It is a bit bigger as you said you wanted (4.5 inches compared to the waves 4 inch frame) and it eleiminates getting the sharp end of the scissors because they open on the outside! For your next tool you should seriously consider getting a SURGE!!

Just order from Tim (felinevet) and say that you are doing it to help the cats.  Works for me! :D

You could always just say Marc at EDC depot is a dog owner and therefore buying from him allows him to feed his dog?  You never know he might be! :D

Is the landyard ring included when you buy the pocket clip for the Wave? Thanks.

Indeed buy the clip and lanyard attatchment!! I just got mine today, and can tell we are gonna get along just fine:) All in all when I ordered it from Leatherman, it didn't even cost me 10 dollars. $5 for the clip and lanyard and $2 for shipping and .49 cents in tax.

Congrats on the Wave! Although I have the old model, I've carried my Wave for years and it and I have become inseparable. It's not perfect, but it suits me well and has yet to fail me. I tried to justify replacing it with my Gerber Legend due to the Wave's retirement, but after carrying that Legend for a week, I couldn't get the Wave back on fast enough! :D

The Wave seems to be like an old Baseball Glove no matter how good the new one is the old one seems better ::) Well @ least that's what I've been told :P  :D Really though I haven't had my Wave that long and I love it :) Seems just right for anything I put it to work on :D

5 month update on my Wave.

I can butterfly it open now which is handy when you are on a roof holding on for dear life. Out of my Surge, Wave, and Supertool i rotate the Wave gets the most carry time.

The Wave's just that right size for urban carry. I like the bigger tools, but the Wave is easy to conceal in areas where knives aren't allowed. I put a metal belt clip on my sheath and wear it inside the waistband in areas verboten to such "weapons." I like the one-hand knife and the trim profile of the Wave. The Legend has a good knife, but the tool is so wide and its sheath is much larger than the Wave.

I think you'll grow to really like the Wave. Good Luck on it, Bill.

Like i had put a few posts up, I got the pocket clip for mine. Extremely durable!! Where people complain alot about is the tool opening up in the pocket. I carry it in the third pocket or back right pocket. Carry it in your right hand pocket, and the clip literally appears to make the tool disappear into your pocket, and all you can see is the clip, but it looks just like a metal ink pen clip.

Not to badmouth the Surge....love it actually..but it does weigh more than Rosie O'Donnell in a sherman tank when it's on your beltloop. Had to hitch my dickies up all night with it strapped to my belt. Now if i could get the surges scissors and the quick switch file saw on the wave.

If you get a black oxide Wave with a BO pocket clip it's even less noticeable, but it still kinda looks like a ink pen clip.

Sounds like an excuse to buy another multitool.  :D That is just incase you need an excuse.

LOL, no excuse at all :D Also just to confirm, Rosie O'Donnell is heavier and bigger than a sherman tank. She also needs a gag, or a huge watermelon to make her stfu!! I can't stand her and her liberal bias views. Sorry to go political here, but she is one who needs to be shipped to iraq. She would make the enemy commit suicide.

As a NRA Member, I am highly pissed about the tirade she made on Tom Selleck about him being an NRA member and the whole time he was there was a discussion about gun rights when it should have been about his movie. I will forgive Rosie for that when the Jews decide to forgive Hitler for what he did!!

Believe I would have to use a knife from my Wave to cut my wrist, but I would get my revenge on Rosie first!! lol :twak:
