Heads up Canadians!

Gerber Clutches are again on sale at Canadian Tire, this time for $8.69 (I think).  Handy little things for gifts or to have at home.

That's terrific price,I wish we had a Canadian Tire or hundred down this way.BTW,what would be an American equivalent to Canadian Tire? Long ago Goodyear had stores that sold several things not directly tire or auto related.

It's like a cross between Sears and Pep Boys.

I still have a couple of Clutches from the previous bunch I bought in case anyone is interested.

Nah I think it's more walmart type. Canadian tire mostly sells low quality craps.

Nevermind, it hasn't started yet, it's next week.

Canadian Tire has some good stuff as well as the crap- you just have to look a little harder.  Of course, the amount of crap they have has increased since Wal Mart opened up in Canada.

By the way, I grew up in St Hubert...

No kidding! I'm in Brossard!

Their good stuff are usually way overpriced, like wave $99. Wish they'd do this magnitude of discount on leatherman instead!

Yeah, that's retail prices though- they have to pay for the floor space somehow! :D

In case anyone is interested, you can see Canadian Tire's website here:

www.canadiantire.ca

Every red blooded Canadian male was raised in Canadian Tire, and there's one in almost every town across the country.  I'll bet there are less than 2% of cars on the road in Canada without at least some Canadian Tire money in the glove compartment!  Yes, they even have their own currency! :D

If the site asks for a postal code, put in mine: B2Y 2Z2

It's $8.74. So you were way WAY off.  :D

BTW,what would be an American equivalent to Canadian Tire?

Uh, American Tire?  ;)

Canadian tire mostly sells low quality craps.

Depends. A lot of Mastercraft branded tools are pretty good quality. The Jobmate brand is mostly crap, though.

Nevermind, it hasn't started yet, it's next week.

Sale starts Saturday.

Their good stuff are usually way overpriced, like wave $99.

Yep. Gerber Suspension retails for $60. The K-Mart across the border had it for $30 USD. Still, CT's sale prices on tools are often very appealing.

Wish they'd do this magnitude of discount on leatherman instead!

I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.  :-\  I don't recall ever seeing a hi-end multi being on sale at CT, be it LM or Gerber.

On the flyer I got if you have crappy tire credit card it's only $6.74. Their tools are decent, can't beat life time warrenty, although I haven't broke anything yet so I don't know how well they stand behind it.

There was once the wave was on sale for 30%, and the website has a $10 coupon so I bought it for $60. So after two discounts it's end up about what it retails for in u.s (or le baron, but I didn't know about it then).  :ahhh

Keep an eye on your local Canadian Tire stores- they are in the process of renovating/moving many of them into these giant stores... and I mean GIANT!  The one closest to me moved a few blocks away to a new shopping complex, and now the store itself is so big, you can put the whole MALL it used to be in, inside it and still have room for the Mark's Work Warehouse!  Just before they move they usually sell off as much as they can, with store wide discounts up to 70% off.

Didn't know about THAT one either... 'til now!

Checked out their online PDFs, and wouldn't you know it, they're selling the Gerber Flik for $57.45 CAD!!  :o  :-\

Sigh...

CT always has the Clutch on sale but they only have red.  I have a black/grey clutch and wouldn't mind getting a second one for under $9 if CT carries them.

I love my Clutch.  :D

Now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever seen a black/grey clutch sold separately in Canadian stores.  IIRC, I got mine from a Gerber Evo/Clutch package for $30 CAD which was a pretty good deal because the clutch was/is $10 so I basically got the full-size Evo for only $20.

Yeah that's the going rate at Canadian Tire, but they put them on sale fro $10 from time to time.  Home Depot also does the same thing, and they usually have the black handled ones as well.

I think I have a spare red handled one, brand new in the package if anyone wants it.

if it's not too late, throw it in with the rest of my order... It'll give me something to mock when I'm using my spirit... :P

I dunno- the Clutch is actually a pretty nice little tool.  I like it quite a bit.

Not in the same class as the Spirit, but if you hang it on your keys it'll likely be around more often than the Spirit when you need a tool!
