No more tags allowed in sig?
on: July 28, 2012, 04:29:39 AM
So I tried to edit my sig (remove one of the links) but it wouldn't go through, saying BB tags aren't allowed anymore. Was this actually changed at some point or something is broken?

This is news to me.... might have been a update to the software or something might be broken.  Just wait till the smart guys get here and they'll sort it out I'm sure.

Weird- we got a new forum sponsor a couple of days ago and he didn't seem to have a problem putting his banner in his account?

I bet the Admins got drunk and decided to have fun moving commas & quotation marks (I think that's what they do around here when they poke around behind the scene) and messed everything up..  :P :P

I haven't had time to be drunk. Maybe after next week when I'm on vacation (perhaps permanently if they don't renew my contract)

it's weird, I have 5 days of work, and 10 obligatory days off (factory shut down) and my contract ends the Sunday before we go back. On one hand it's nice to have a regular pay check, but on the other I don't really like my job all that much :P

It could go either way as it's nothing to do with my performance... if the central office decides no, that's all there is to it... so apparently we are all just numbers after all...

This has to be some settings change: on admin panel -> signature section, only some tags being enabled.
Eitherway there is a way to trick the smf system: just put the tags into separate lines. I.e. this works

You are in Spain right? Unemployment in Spain has been historically high but now with the debt crisis it's rising like crazy. The same is happening here, but we used to have low unemployment (4% in 2000, now 15%!!).

Yeah, this is why I'm really not sure of the outcome, where I'm working (renewable energy/wind farms) there isn't really a lack of work at the moment, I've been on a 18 month contract to start (I inherited an existing contract of someone who went into early retirement) and while in theory I should now be made permanent, it's anyone's guess how it will pan out, if the central office says cut back (which they seem to be saying about everything else including employees, as a pile of engineers have been let go) then I'd at least have unemployment for a while whereas previously when I was self employed I was not entitled to unemployment benefits even though we pay all the same taxes (and a lot more of them iirc) Also it's of note I'm currently working there as a regular bottom rung operator... with my education and experience I should be doing something better (and when I initially started they said based on my curriculum there would be advancement possibilities within the company, you know, foot in the door... something there definitely isn't right now), but again a steady pay check is always nice...

Steady paychecks are nice.  Big, steady paychecks are probably better... :D

They have given me another substitution contract, filling in for someone who's on leave temporarily... so I'll get a couple more pay checks before I'm out it seems. I have heard through the grapevine they aren't doing any new contracts for anyone... so it seems I'm lucky for the moment.
