looks cool komalsharma

I just might have to get a "tactical tomahawk"

not for a tool just because I want one.

I just sharpened my estwing to a insane sharpness. I'm almost afraid to use it.

shaving sharp. Well see how it holds it. :)

Seriously looking at this little guy

Hultafors Mini Hatchet

It's certainly small, and Hultafors have a good reputation as a maker. :tu:

The Gransfors Brucks Hand Hatchet looks to be very similar, might be easier to find in the US?

Is there any other " tactical " like tomahawks with a hammer end and not the spike.

I like the looks of most of the tactical hawks I've seen but I think a sharp spike pointing at me is kinda dangerous for what I would use it for.

I'd like the  beard sharpened and a pry end on the Handel would be a huge bonus. I'd also prefer a composite or steel handle than wood.

I'm willing to pay a little more for this one because I don't plan on abusing it at work. Its more for me to have a bad ass looking hawk to show off around the campsite than anything. :P

I've done a lot of looking and the logerhead is just about perfect besides the price.

PS I think the Gerber with the Handel cut out of its head it UGLY besides that it has alot of functions I like.   the crkt is just to fugly

You're looking, these days, for a carpenters hatchet.  Probably a half hatchet.  An ace shouldn't be used for hammering metal,  or any heavy hammering at all.  It will open the eye, and loosen the head, probably irreparably.  Hatchets have a hammer on the butt, and a straight handle.  Many are chisel ground with a flat or square bit. Estwing could be an exception,  but the butt, which isn't tempered as hard, will spawl over time.  But we live in a disposable society.

One more thought

I use my tomahawk's etc more as a demolition tool than to build anything.

I'd use the hammer end mostly on wood and brick.

if I got to do alot of hammering I use a hammer but its nice to have one to break stuff with. Chopping and smashing. A true multitool  :multi:

I do hesitate to point this one out, it's certainly not a personal recommendation, but it's the only modern style hammer headed 'hawk that I could find without breaking the bank.
