Brands that go together.
on: March 02, 2008, 04:02:55 PM
I thought that this would be a very interesting post. The object is to think of two brands that go together.

My guess would be Leatherman and Maglite. The reason I am behind this would be because they are both hard working tools and they have been around for a long time!

I'm going old school and say RC Cola and Moon Pie! :D

Oh, you mean tools. I'll stick with Maglite and pair them with Victorinox. How long have they been selling the Classic with the Solitaire in the gift box?

I have another. How about Vise Grip and Channellock? Can you imagine a tool box without both?

We could stick with linking tool brands and I'll say Victorinox and Fisher Bullet Pen. I have a red Bullet Pen and Vic money clip in a nice red box with the Vic shield on it. 8)

In the ideal world, I'd be a One Brand Man, - except of course, you can't trust one brand to be good at everything.

I've gotta a coupla Jan-U-Wine Irwin Vicies, I don't think I have Genuine Channellocks.

I don't know if I've seen a lot of "buddy up" brand marketing, so I have not got into the habit of putting two together.

Well, I don't like to leave my house without a LM and a photon light, so I guess that'd be my pair. :)

Victorinox and Novatac.

Both are extremely well engineered products, will last a lifetime with little care and maintenance and sport a lifetime warranty.

Of course, if you ask me again in a couple of months, my choice of light may have changed.  My choice of multitool/SAK brand will likely never change.

One half of the equation for me would definatly be a Vic product of some discription, as for the other half
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

I'd also say Leatherman and Mag lite...both American made, simple, tough tools.  Although most of the new Leatherman tools aren't all that "simple" anymore.

I say LM and a SAK go good together. Right now I am carrying a Skeletool and a Farmer and I have been well equipped for any problems that have come up. And if the situation was to come up when you had to use a screw driver and a pair of pliers you will be covered.

Another pair that sticks in my head that goes back from when I was but a wee lad and that's Stanley and Black & Decker. Not always top quality (and not meant to be) but solid, been around a long time and some of it will surprise you with how good and solid they are.

I've been a tool buyer since I was 8 or 9 years old and I still have a B&D jig saw I bought when I was about 10, and yes it is metal. :o

Yes, 15x2+9 years. Why do you think my garage is as full as it is? I probably have as many tools as that at work also. All those tools, and my most used tool, by far, is the humble razor knife. I've been meaning to take some pics of my razor knife collection for you guys. A guess would be I have about 50! :ahhh

I agree Victorinox and Maglite go together but maybe thats because they are distributed by the same firm in the UK ( Burton McCall ) .
I find Spyderco also goes well with Vic , as in Swisstool and UKPK .

Gotta love Manco(Duck brand) duct tape. My favorite by far, and I KNOW duck tape.

I would have to say that two tools that go great together are the SAK and a Maglite or a Leatherman and a Maglite.
