The day I almost bought a Swisschamp XL
on: March 07, 2013, 08:53:06 PM
A few days ago I received an email from a person that called himself "Pree" and offered me an Swisschamp XL for sale.
He asked 60 pounds for it, and since I had no proofs that he really had the knife, I asked him to send me a few pictures.
He sent me those pictures and after a few days we closed the deal.
I sent the $$$ via Paypal, but I don't know what happened, and he did not collect the $$$ and did not answer any email from me again.
I cancelled the payment, of course, with pain in my heart, since I was so happy to buy such a rare knife for such a good price.
Well, I don't know what happened, but beware with him, since I think that for some reason he could not collect the money from paypal, and thats why he gave up.
Sorry for my not so good english!
And why there is no reference for the Swisschamp XL at Sakwiki webpage...or at least I did not find it?

There is no SwissChamp XL on SAKwiki because I was hoping that some one who had one in their hands would enter the information, since for accuracy I like to be sure to have a real sample.  A couple years back even Victorinox was not sure what tools were on the official Victorinox XL, all they could confirm at the time is that they did appear to make one, at first they could not even confirm that they had to do some real digging.  I can't remember who it was on SOSAK that kept them looking.

Now the information I beleive is out there and consistent, but at one time SM5K had got one so I was hoping since he had it he would enter the information.  There are always little extra notes one can make when they have one in hand.

Hopefully one day I'll find one, but for some reason I've not been too worried about finding that model.

Not exactly: XLT with divot tool instead of bit driver/bits :)

Found one small bite of info saying it was only produced 1999-2000.

Glad you got your money back... sounded a little dodgy :-\

That's right.
SwissChamp + pruner blade + electrican blade + spatula + divot tool.

I actually own two. I'm actively trying to get that down to one, however  :D
