You have a gorgeous problem my friend.  They are a sight to behold.  All those Old Soldiers in one place just blows my mind.

Must be nice to live where this stuff turns up at flea markets.  You live in Switzerland right?

Cheers mate.

Don't know what your current collection is like, but I'd say you have definitely upgraded it.  :tu:

The really scary thing is that I stopped when the table was full not when the box was empty.

My problem is if I find an old soldier in good condition I tend to grab it :) even if it is not a big improvement of the knife currently in the core collection for that year.

Problem is as the collection improves the improvements get smaller and the cost for that small improvement gets silly but one day I aim to have a perfect run from 1921 to 2008 :)

The reason for the sort out was it is the biggest collectors fair of the year this weekend in Luzern and I wanted to check if I had any upgrades in the box that had not gone into the collection

http://www.waffenboerse-luzern.ch/htm/home.htm

I will post what I find on Monday :)

What a treasure trove  :o

I'd love to have an old soldier to try out. If you find you have one spare that's still fit for daily use (not bothered about "pretty") feel free to PM me  :D

I was also quite surprised to see that in a Swiss boot fair you appear to have scored an old Richards advertising knife done as a Leeds United FC souvenir  That's like seeing a half chewed toffee in the middle of a pile of golden nuggets  :D :D

I know what you mean.
I've almost got a perfect run myself of alox Soldiers from 1962 to 2008.
Most are brand new and a few in near new condition.
Just have a few to find in better shape and i'm done.
Although I just picked up an almost brand new Red Elsener 1962 to replace my slightly worn example.
Then I may start with the pre 1962 vintage Soldiers.  :ahhh

That is an oldish french Laguiole ... the three above it are all German copies of the officer knife

To change the subject slightly. What is the odd-looking wood-handled tool in the upper left of the first picture?

Wonder what a 1961 Standard Edition or Soldier looks like. How would one be able to tell if it was actually a 1961 (year specific) version anyhow?

That is an oldish french Laguiole ... the three above it are all German copies of the officer knife
and the one immediately below the Laguiole? It has an interesting size and shape.
