If they don't just loosen the pivot screw a fraction.

I may have to try that.  Not sure if I have the proper tool to fit those pivot screws.
Regular pliers suck for that job, but I use a SOG Pocket PowerPlier for openeing Gerber tools. The Compoind Leverage realy helps grip that tight screw.

Locking Pliers would also work i imagine.

Grip the points by the dimples, most any pliers will do.
If needed heat screw with a lighter to break the loctite.
Post runs through the handle and won't turn, the screw is on the scissors side.

Awesome.  Thanks for the advice guys! Will try with my PowerLock if they don't loosen up in a week or so.

Yes I have been thinking about getting a set of tools for my new Gerber and my Leathermans.  Haven't gotten around to it yet though.  I did, however, break out my PowerLock and it worked like a charm.  Was able to loosen the pivot screw about 1/4 turn.  Now all the tools are are silky smooth and easy to open.   Thanks everyone!

Old version

Nice old original Mr Pinchy v1  8)   (with the fattest lanyard ring you are ever likely to see on an MT)

They are a bit rare, and even less common with a promo - I don't think I've seen an "Eddie Bauer" one before.  I do have a "Mac Tools" one (v1.1).

Here's every Gerber I own including my new to me MP600

I'm in the market for a sheath. She currently lives squeezed in my LM Charge sheath with a bit kit. I'm considering a Maxpedition Molle or Niteize Tool Holster, or maybe a Skinth. I already have a L Shield on the way but I doubt it'll fit this tool. How do y'all 600 owners carry?

It fits a bit better in the bigger version of that same Leatherman sheath, with the bit kit. It will fit in a Nite Ize stretch holster, but it's a very tight fit and the pliers will still poke out. Plus the bit kit slot in the back is very thin. The standard kit in the rubber boot is impossible to get in there, but I don't have the one in your pic to confirm how it works with that.

Here's a pic of it crammed in the Nite Ize holster;

It will fit in a Maxpedition single sheath, and possibly others, but that's the only one of theirs I have personally. Also, Gerber has their own line of molle sheaths that fit it perfectly. The most common one seems to be the kind with velcro closure, but there's also a buckle version.
I don't know which Skinth is the best choice for an MP600, but you can't go wrong with the quality there.

I use this Leatherman sheath for my BN MP600, the needlenose would stich out a little bit. There is an elastic holder for a bit kit and side loops as well. It was for the Surge or Supertool 300. They are retired but you can still find them on E-bay. They are quite sturdy with a nice two way belt loop.

Pulled the trigger on Gerber Diesel.
I have to say that I still like MP600 more, but its nice too, the inner tools feel bit nicer in Diesel. MP600 has better feel on the pliers.

Just ordered an MP1 and an MP400.  I haven't had a new Gerber since the Crucial, I think.

I have the old Mr. Pinchy from when it first came out and a LM OHT, but I haven't handled any recent sliders from Gerber.

I think you'll like the 400. I was wary of Gerbers after breaking a Suspension while handling it in a store, but the 400 put that to rest in terms of the MP's.

Picked up my first Gerber the other day, a bladeless mp600.
Love the tool, plier head slides out smoothly and the inside tool set doesnt clump either!
Have been spoilt by the leatherman oht's slider lock though... a feature that's surprisingly useful I found.
Regardless, the mp600 is a great tool I am sure to use often at work

I wasn't prepared to like the MP400 because my experience with Gerber hasn't been great over the years - particularly the original MP, the Crucial, and the Suspension.  I never liked the small and poorly milled drivers, the funky and small blades, and what looked like poor design to me.  But the MP400 is a nice little tool.  The tools on one side were a little stiff when I first got it as well as the sliding plier mechanism, but it loosened up quickly and now works just fine.  I'm not crazy about the blade shape or that it's CE, but it looks useable and was nice and sharp out of the box.  It has a nice feel in the hand, and the drivers look very useable as well.  Good job, Gerber!  Now I wish they still made the MP700 so I have one of those small Gerbers too.

Got a camo MP600 underway. Pics when it arrives. This tool has been elusive. I gave up trying to find one at a decent price several years ago. This one popped up and won it dirt cheap. I wasnt even looking for one. I guess the wait was worth it.    :)
