I don't have the right words in English, but I hope the road ahead will be as good as a hard road can be, both for you and your loved ones, Lynn. Sometimes the least bad is the best we can get.

I wanted to thank you all one more time, for your kindness during this.

My father in law passed away about an hour ago. He went peacefully.

I wrote about a year ago that I'd passed my little preon 1 flashlight on to a new home. That was so Al had a light to more safely take his evening walks. The little light has returned to me now.

In the spirit of these boards, I should say that Al carried a Victorinox Handyman. I expect that will get passed on to me, as I don't think anyone else cares that much.

Al was an author, and a soldier, built his own house, and traveled extensively. He loved the wonders of the world, and going to new places. Not on a cruise ship or tourist tour. He SAW places. He raised two sons, who are both fine men, and has a grandson. He visited his wife every day after her stroke, faithfully.

I miss him already.

I am really sorry to hear the loss to the family, Lynn.  From little I read, he is a good man with interesting past, whom must be loved dearly by everyone in the family.  I am sure the families' memories will keep him alive, and my heart goes out to you and your family.  Please do take care!

Lynn,

I just saw this, as I was away last week.

The thing I wanted to say is, by just being there and showing that you cared about him and valued him, you gave him the greatest gift you could.  In the end, all the multi-tools, cars, money, etc are just things.  What is important comes into sharp focus, and generally it involves the quality of relationships that one has.

Good for you!  Five years of now, you'll be so grateful that you went the extra distance to be there for him. :)
