first experience with CeraKote (pic heavy)
on: December 16, 2013, 05:51:35 AM
I had been thinking about sending in a couple of my Leatherman mods for cerakoting, but had never gotten around to it... then Treker22 recently made a post saying he needed someone to disassemble his Charge so he could get it cerakoted, which finally got the ball rolling. I sent all the tools to Jeff Forbush, which was an easy decision after seeing some of the work he has done for Metro. :)

I'll cut to the chase -- I am thrilled with the results, and I hope Treker22 will be as well once he gets his back. :) without further ado, the pics:

1. Treker22's Charge TTi, done in Armor Black (handles, pliers, blades, internal tools... basically everything except the washers got cerakoted!)

fully assembled

he even wanted the bit extender coated...

2. my first ReCharge (although the tool loadout has changed since that thread)

I had the interior handles coated in Graphite Black (along with the pocket clip) and left the handle scales and tools alone. I really like the way it turned out -- I think it's a nice contrast. :)

3. my modded Wave, coated in Highland Green

as you can see, I just coated the handles with this one as well. unfortunately, the lighting sucks, and it looks more black than green. :( (the color shows up better in the group shots.) I also had a pocket clip coated in this color, but I decided I liked the look of the Wave better with the green handles and the SS pocket clip.

a couple group shots:

Needless to say, I highly recommend contacting Jeff if you're interested in having any CeraKote work done. :tu:

YAHOO!

Those look AWESOME! the CK feels so nice in the hand too, it improves grip even when wet.

Also, as you mentioned, Jeff is the business. Super fast, professional and best of all, friendly!

Suppose that is what I will do, since no one locally does cerakoting. Looks really good, what did it run you if ya don't mind me asking?

I noticed that right away! the Wave feels 10x grippier! :o

I really should try to get some better pics. The Highland Green looks really nice, and these pics aren't even coming close to doing it justice. :-\

one other disclaimer -- Treker22 gave me permission to post pics of his TTi, but I don't know if he wanted his real name revealed. :D

firefightingjosh -- I'm guessing every order is a little different for Jeff, depending on tools, colors, etc. PM me for details if you're interested.

There's also a place in the NL, although their website is a nightmare (invalid HTTPS certificate and incorrectly rendering for me in Chrome or FFX)

I'm seriously considering it for a customer build job I have in mind.. but then again I'd prefer to see some samples before committing - especially regarding colour

CeraKote is as tough as old boots and wears very well, I need a few things doing at the moment but I don't have the space to spray them.
