Is there an adapter that will fit the Cybertool bit adapter for using 1/4 bits?

Hi all,

I am looking for an adapter that will fit into the Cybertool bit holder so I can use stock 1/4 inch bits!  I dont care if it made by Vic or a third party, just wanna find one!

I dont own a Dremel so I dont want to make my own so looking to purchase or trade something for one or two!

Just a thought but does anyone make a full/bigger 4mm hex kit with alot more bit choices that will fit the CT?

I was curious but rethinking this as I would have to wonder how much torque the 4mm CT would be able to take before breakage/damage if used hard.  Especially compared to just using a 1/4 socket setup.

I was just thinking of a more complete kit that I could have when I carried my CT34 in my backpack.

The driver itself can take quit a bit of torque. I have bent and broke a couple of the bits way before i even stressed the driver.

I don't think that will work.  That is a 1/4" drive socket with 4mm hex.  What Mike wants is a 4mm male bit on one end, and a 1/4" female hex on the other, to put 1/4" bits in.  I've seen many the other way around to adapt 1/4" hex to 4mm, but not to adapt 4mm to 1/4" hex.

Mike, you could use the part in my link above attached to a 1/4" hex socket...

Yes, there are many large 4mm bit kits available.  However, none of them have the ball retainment system that Vic uses.

You can make an adapter for the Philip's driver. Mine works for SAKs and Spirit alike.

wont work for the cybertools 29,34 and 41. they only have the bit driver ,not the philips.

@NutSAK - the linked one you posted could work and all I need is the socket!

@Etherealicer - Have to look at that closer! 

@kkokkolis - I would know where to begin to make one and probably dont have the tools to do it with so looking to purchase one.  It would be great to have one or two that work with many different models/MT's.  Would it work using one of the flat heads, corner to corner?

It works with the backscale driver but there's more play. And this driver isn't standard on cyber tools also.

A 4mm kit and a small magnet in the wrench is another option (up to Hex 4 at least). It will save weight, space and complexity.

I think we're over thinking the bit driver as a bit driver- I always hate upsizing adaptors.

Hmmm. Maybe what you need is a Minigrip - Or a modded one without the pliers.

If you find yourself needing a 1/4" bit driver often, maybe getting the Vic bit wrench or ratchet from a Swisstool is an alternative. Gives you a place to store the bits, too.

..and it´s dirt cheap there! It´s aboput 40,- € here.
There have been threads about it here and It´s a nice addition to a Plier based MT, although quite bigger than a SAK.

I've got a couple of those Kershaws, they're handy things but I wish they were sturdier. The blade is more than fine but the handles and the driver have all sorts of flex.

Maybe you could try the mini ratchet or wrench sets that you can get with the Swisstool Spirit.  They use standard 1/4" bits, and are compact and easy to carry.  I personally prefer the wrench for simplicity.

I might have to scrap this idea of utilizing the CT34 with extra bits and just go with some MT that has an adapter available.  Like I said, I dont want alot of different items which will really weigh my backpack down or not fit into a Max Mini/Fatty!

I don't know hether it would work perfectly, but Wiha a German company that manufactures a range of high quality screwdrivers amongst other tools, does make a 4mm drive to 1/4" bit adapter for their System 4 4mm long blade screwdriver sytem. The Wiha part number is 28581. The part can be seen here.

UFOX: I know this is an old post, but I want to thank you for providing the information on the bit kit from Lee Valley. I spent two days trying to find a match for the Cybertool 4mm bits with ball bearing detent, but came up with nothing. After researching Wiha and finding that they don't even offer them, I was about to give up.

I ordered the kit from Lee Valley and am very pleased with the quality and selection. The kit is made in Taiwan, but of a very high quality - the user reviews seem to be favorable as well. Since they don't list the individual bit sizes on their site, I'll recap them here. You get 19 bits: Pozi 0 and 00; Phillips 0 and 00; Flat 2, 2.5, 3 and 4; Torx 6, 7, 8, 9, 10; Ball Hex 1.5, 2, 2.5; Hex 1.5, 2, 2.5. Each bit features the ball detent and are 28mm in length - the exact length of the Cybertool bits. They fit in the Cybertool driver nicely with no wobble or loose feel.
