World's worst knife
on: April 26, 2014, 10:15:47 AM
I just saw this on Youtube. Not sure if it's been discussed, but I can't stop laughing:

Corwyn of Multitool, the First of His name, King of Victorinox, King of Leatherman, Gerber and the First Generation SOG, Lord of the Seven Wrenches, Protector of the Forum, Khal of the Bushes, called Corwyn Toolborn, the Unsharpened, Father of SAKs.

Why would anyone put that kind of crap on market? Tin cans can take more beating than that.

Oh dear lord.

I think the Chinese army should issue this fine made in china camping tool.  :D

There just is no point in making knock off SAKs.  The real things are dirt cheap already with mind blowing quality, so why bother.

SAKs are fairly expensive for most of the world that lives at ~$1 per day unfortunately. But selling things like this isn't a solution and it is a fraud, that's a crime in all countries.

Its like a knock off of a knock off.  Just make it 'LOOK' like a SAK.  It really looks like its make from soda cans.

True!

I get why things get knocked-offs.  But normally isnt that of high value items? Like designer purses or perfume?  Why knock off a SAK that you can already get pretty darn cheap and get an authentic one?  Even if I had very little money to spare for a tool, I could go buy used SAKs for $10-$30 and they would be like tools of the gods compared to the china junk like this.   I just dont get why they bother to make them.  Its just such a waste of time, resources and the $1 that thing must have cost to buy new.

The only way this knife could be worse is if it was paper mache.

Very sad especially when the item being knocked off is so much superior.  Hell I'd bet anything gcconspiracy's card SAK could beat the crap out of that atrocious thing all day everyday.

It's hard to imagine what they would produce if they tried to imitate a Gerber Bear Grylls tool. Yet, it's not scientifically proved that you can make any worse than that, but nobody knows until one tries.

Is the bear tool as fantastic as the Les multi tool we saw reviewed here? I do not have the bear tool but I did not get the impression it was junk.

I have a Les tool on order...so I can't comment on it. As for the Gerber Bear stuff, I have most of it. The Ultimate Bear MT is basically a Suspension, for what that is worth.

I don't have an Ultimate Bear Grylls Multitool, but I'd guess it's better than the Les Stroud tool. The Suspension seems to be functional, if not exactly the heaviest duty MT out there. That's an assumption on my part, not certain fact. For certain fact is the Les Stroud tool is REALLY bad, particularly for a name brand.

Where to begin on this tool...?

First, the thing that gets to me is that it is another US based company that is devaluing American made products by putting pictures of the flag and proclaiming themselves as a US company and promoting shoddy made products.  Someone is going to glance at the packaging and think "Oh, it's made in the US!" and buy it not realizing what an awful piece of crap it is.  It's the same with Taylor Cutlery and all their proudly American BS.

Second off, I've said it before and I'll say it again- if you manufacture and sell a tool meant to be used and it is that bad, you should be held liable for any damages, injuries and/or difficulties it causes.  By doing that I am certain you'll see this super cheapo crap market dry up in a hurry as importers realize they are going to be on the hook, no matter how many dump trucks full of cash show up at their house.

I might be wrong but I am under the impression that it is NOT the Chinese manufacturer made a bunch crap and try to sell into USA, but the US companies order & import this crap into the market.

If you want to order Multi-tools with 13 functions from manufacturer, but demand the production cost kept under $2.00, what can you expect?

You are right- but you can't bring a lawsuit against a foreign company easily, so putting the importer on the hook would be the next best thing.
