Just one question... Why didn't you leave the large flathead/prybar, instead of the mediumsized one?

The shortened pliers would sometimes catch on it when closing. I wanted to keep it ~~idiot proof~~ user friendly.

Were the Surge scissors a straight drop in? (except cutting in the locking nub of course.

) Any problems with clearance when closing the pliers?

The pre disassembly plan was to remove the serrated blade. However I had failed to note the different thickness and the detent feature. Because of the type of work I do the saw gets used more than the file. The Surge has the exchanger so moving the file to the Surge was the better option for me. I have spares of both so swapping or replacing them later isn't a hassle.

Arrrggh!!! Now I'm wondering if I should try and fit the exchanger in...

Thanks. No, there was a bit of work involved. The first cut and fit worked really well. Then when cleaning up the messy file work I took too much off and got some play. Bit of sweat and tears and it locks up solid again. There is no clearance issue with the pliers when closing, everything works and fits as it should. Maybe I'll add a cutting hook to the serrated blade someday but for now I'm happy with this setup.

Very nice! I like the needle nose pliers, they give greater versatility and that's the point of a multi, but I do wish there would be more blunt nose options out there because lets face it, some times you just need to muckle onto something. There is also just a certain aesthetic to this profile, it's squat and tough looking, a dwarven multi. And I'd happily swap out a few drivers to have a "typical" size straight, #2Ph and then just a bit driver for everything else on my Rebar.

Guess I'm odd, I'd have wanted to keep the file and carry my Compact or Rambler for the scissors, but as is, that would just force me to carry something like an ignition file- oh the horror.

But other than that one preference, this looks good.

It is used only at work for very specific tasks hence the plier head and tool load.
I don't see any sak scissors being suitable nor would I want to clean and dry them every night.
Also I'm not without files, there are normally at least a few other multitools in reach.

Hey Leatherman, make a file accessory for sheath carry, 3"x1" diamond on one side and wood/metal on the other.
