Hi all! I joined quite a while ago to ask a few questions but didn't have much to contribute personally. I've been getting into modding recently and now I have something to show off  ;)

Here's my daily driver, a Classic SD with brass scales made my me, put together with stainless steel hardware. I put it together "backwards" because I use the knife more than the scissors, and it has always bothered me a bit the the knife points toward the keyring. Next up I'm working on a Waiter with a pocket clip, which I think would be the perfect picnic knife.

Here ya go  :)

It occurred to me this morning that if I put the knife on the other side, I could have it go the direction I wanted while keeping the "Victorinox" stamping on the front. The way it is now, the stamping is on the back. I'll have to remember that for the next one!

Can't you just unscrew the scale and turn it around? The alignment is pretty much the same, right?

Here's a new one - a Rambler with brass scales and liners. I like the engraving on this one better than the debossed cross on my Classic, plus it was easier to make. Found some stainless Torx hardware too.

Did a quick combo tool mod today. It always bothered me that the Compact doesn’t have a means to turn a #2 Philips. They are the most common screws on my premises, so a SAK without a Philips is annoying. The combo tool is just slightly too large at the tip to fit into a Philips head, so I figured I take the disc sander and see if I can fix that.

Plan was to take off a bit of the upper rim, so the bottle/can opener function still works as intended. I did it on my waiter first, being the cheaper SAK and all.

Here is the before in comparison with the tip of the regular can opener:

Here it is after. Works just just fine now:

Due to the angle of the combo tool it is slightly out of alignment with the screw head angle. Means the butt of the SAK turns in a larger circle than the tool when using it. So, I would not use it extensively, but it is good enough to fasten the occasional loose screw

Good mod Sir Vic.  :like:
Combo tool is definitely in the butt category for me.  I’ve switched back to having an opener layer...stronger, more versatile tools, and I get to keep my small blade. I’ve learnt to live with the extra couple mm.

Am currently doing a mod for a relative... while waiting for the actual scales to arrive (being anodized from standard silver to a different color) thougt I’d practice peening... and boy is it still far from perfect
