New?
on: June 24, 2014, 10:40:17 PM
I recently bought a "New" Wenger Ranger 53. It came w/box & papers. The scales look new, no scratches or markings & the Phillips looks the same. The only question I have is w/the blade. It is not mirror shinny like the other new blades. It has no markings on it except vertical striations. Several years ago I bought a "new" Vic Scientist & it looked pefect except it too had vertical striations on the blade. The only others I've seen like this are Vics Gardening blades. Are these new & just slip thru inspection w/this type grinding?
The pics I'm enclosing are not too good. They show all kinds of markings on the blade, but the only markings actually on the blades are the vertical striations.

My guess would be factory goof.  My wenger ranger blades are all pretty shiny and have no marks like yours.  Ive got 3 and they are all the same.

You might ask who you bought it from if they have any idea.

Missed this topic.... I guess you have a kind of "collectible", as I never saw a finish like that.

Yeah, seems it skipped a step in the finishing process.

I'll ad my voice to this thread.I only have 5 Wengers, two of them are Ranger models. All,including the Rangers, have mirror polished blades.

Is a factory anomaly worth more money ?

Who knew. LOL.

I can make mine look like that. LOL.
